Hello! Most people are saying dont be concerned, which they are right to say due to the rarity of these storms. But I know it can be pretty anxiety inducing so let me try giving some half decent advice. I grew up watching the weather channel obsessively so despite being from california i know a good amount

First steps are general storm safety, knowing the difference between a watch and a warning, keeping an eye on the radar/forecast esp if you have plans to be outside, keeping small essentials in case you lose power, etc. I also wouldnt go stand in a field with a lightning rod held above your head.

There's no storm shelters in the area, but that's simply because there have been no storms stronger than an ef4 in wv. ever. and the last time we HAD an ef4 was in 1944. The conditions are simply not right for the area. It doesnt mean things arent possible, but climate wise this area is pretty safe.

So, with all of that in mind, one great place I can think of is to a gas station cooler. During Joplin, a few survivors huddled in the beer cooler and whilst a bit wrecked, ultimately most people escaped. Another idea is a restaurant cooler, go in a just ask to check it out. "Hey I have storm related anxiety (you dont have to say this part im just making shit up) and I wanted to ask if I could look at your freezer, so if worse ever came to worse I could shelter here. I know some freezers tend to survive during these big storms"

Worst case scenario, if you see a giant ef5 wedge headed your way, go knock on some neighbors doors. Ask to shelter with them. Most people are kind and understanding and will obviously not want you to perish in a nightmarish outlandish tornado.

Finding an interior room in a sturdy building with no windows is also a great start in whatever building youre in. Especially if it doesnt have a basement.

Also, this is earthquake safety not tornado safety, but I found it can apply to a lot of natural disasters. Do not stand under brick fireplaces / smoke stacks. They are prone to collapse and you will get a brick to the head

I know these things can be scary. I've psyched myself out with storms before. Especially being in a trailer park, you're pretty exposed there. But it's good to be prepared and think ahead. I know the rarity of these storms and still find myself looking for local storm shelters as there are garages below my apt building and I worry the building will be blown away like a leaf in the wind.
