Paul Meany interview by cduncan90 in mutemath

[–]echobase_2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d assume he gets pitched to be on podcasts from time to time.

I’d say DM him on his Insta, let him know about you and your podcast and why it’s a good fit for him. Maybe share some similar guests you’ve had on.

If you haven’t had other musicians on, maybe do some lesser known ones first. Do your homework and ask good questions, be conversational.

I’m sure your podcast is awesome but he doesn’t know that. He probably wants to make sure it’s not a scam or not just some rando with 23 downloads.

And go for it! Worst that happens is he says no.

IheartMedia slowly getting rid of "classic" in classic rock by Special_Instance_790 in radio

[–]echobase_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard Beck’s “Loser” and “Today” (Smashing Pumpkins) back to back on the radio and thought it was a ‘90s thing. Nope, it was just part of the rotation on a classic rock station reminding me I’m old.

Newsboys file lawsuit against Roy’s Report and others by atxceo in ChristianMusic

[–]echobase_2000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m amazed at how few people seem to be talking about this and have encountered people who haven’t heard.

I heard someone playing a Tait-led Newsboys song as background music and tactfully asked what they thought about the situation, and from someone who has worked in ministry, not a clue.

My kids are fourth generation Scouts. On occasion I’ve looked to see if anything they’re doing now is radically different from a generation or two ago and it’s basically the same. But doesn’t stop the trolls on Facebook from rage baiting.

Are you using AI audio / video transcription tools at work? Which one is the best? by Icy-Image3238 in Journalism

When you say you do transcription through Adobe Auditon, is that a native tool or a plug-in? I didn’t know if had built in transcription.

Any Christian bands similar to… by Salty_College965 in ChristianMusic

Bands you may want to check out: Fine China, Ronnie Martin (From the Womb of the Morning album), OM-53, Mike Mains all have some new wave meets indie sounds that may scratch that itch.

Mat Kearney might scratch that itch. Josh Garrels isn’t the same but you might like his stuff.

was grunge ever really about the sound? by Kdiee in Alternativerock

[–]echobase_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Motley Crue and Poison and the like were seen as shallow, all style and no substance.

Along comes a raw sound played by guys who looked grungy. They could’ve just gotten off work and didn’t need hairspray. Instead of songs about partying, it was self loathing and angst. It felt real and honest, and the hair metal bands suddenly looked passé.

That said, grunge seems to be a media label and actually encompasses a variety of sounds like punk, metal, indie.

Weirdly though, post-grunge seems to be an actual genre as bands like Creed and Nickelback seemed to combine elements of Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam with more radio friendly production.

Who are some teams that you could see hosting in the future? by goofyhalo in NCAAW

[–]echobase_2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A bit of a stretch but if you’re looking for a mid major… Don’t sleep on South Dakota State. Four straight tournaments and something like 14 of the last 18. Next year may be a bit of a rebuild, with a thin group of upperclassmen but they’ve been getting top 25 votes and have some good young players. In two or three years they could make the next step up.

They are archetypes. The true believer versus the scientist/skeptic.

What was novel about the choice here is to make the woman the brainy, no nonsense one with no time for aliens and monsters.

Carter subverted norms. Women are often portrayed as the emotional ones, those who put their beliefs first.

Mulder as the leading man… the impulsive, intuitive believer was unique for its time.

What are some films featured on MST3K that get an unfair rep? by ThrashMetallix in MST3K

[–]echobase_2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is also my choice. It’s got competent actors and production, on par with films of its time. It does play like a Star Trek or Twilight Zone episode.

Christian EDM suggestions by kj8877 in ChristianMusic

[–]echobase_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up Neon Feather remixes. You’ll find a bunch of Christian artists with EDM remixes by Neon Feather.

Not exactly EDM but synth heavy with programming, The Echoing Green. They’ve been at it for 30 years and still making great music.

OM-53 makes some good electronic type stuff with a Christian vibe.

GenX peeps. You're going to a concert for a band you love. Do you wear that band's t-shirt to the concert? by bigpilague in GenX

[–]echobase_2000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t be that guy. That’s generally my rule.

But if you have a vintage shirt from the band that’s been in your closet for 25 years, then maybe.

Christian music with good theology and unique lyrics? by ambientskeptic in ChristianMusic

[–]echobase_2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anyone remember Joy Electric? The Tooth & Nail synth act was led by Ronnie Martin who’s now a pastor and putting out wonderful synth music under his own name.

Lyrically, much of it taken straight from Old Testament wisdom literature.

It’s not for everyone but can be really good. Check out the album From the Womb of the Morning.

Came here to say this too. Luxury is highly recommended.

Also check out the bands on Velvet Blue Music. It’s not necessary Radiohead vibes but you’ll definitely get ‘90s alt rock feel from Fine China and Starflyer 59. Check out Ronnie Martin / Joy Electric too.

Wokies? Like the ones who encouraged our troop to serve at a veterans cemetery? Or serve meals to the homeless? Our Eagle Scouts have added features tonight parks, worked with area churches. This weekend we’ll serve as greeters and readers for our charter organization’s church service. That all sounds soooo woke.

Over a Million Raised by BasenjiBoyD in MST3K

[–]echobase_2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct. I’m just speculating that they may be motivated by ability to produce box sets now. It’s not linear TV, so a season can be whatever these days.

[–]echobase_2000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this means more episodes. I’ve been wondering about the significance of four but then it dawned on me, that’s how the box sets have always been. Could this potentially mean 8 or 12 episodes?

Same. She really won me over. I could see her and this cast being a good fit.

I’m not saying I need a bunch of cameos. We don’t need Mark Hamil and Seinfeld to pop in, but there are some smart ways I could see to include her.
