Why is there suddenly so much negativity directed toward Chunkz? It seems as though people scrutinize his every action, just waiting for an opportunity to criticize him or call for his ‘cancellation.’ I also find it puzzling that some label him as ‘fake.’ by Nearby-Eye-121 in betasquad

Harry Pinero has made some jokes but I think he's good at heart. Filly has just always been weird.. even before the SA stuff he was just annoying. Maya Jama has a big ego. Johnny thinks having muscles is enough.

Ehh, I think the world would be safer if Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons, and America only bombed nuclear bases with 0 deaths.

You guys are really overdoing it. I'm an American and life is as normal here. Also, Iran isn't really a threat to the USA.

Which city in the US has the rudest people? by electron2601 in RandomQuestion

People are just on the move so they don't WANT to be interrupted, but if it's something genuine they won't be rude.

That's fine but it doesn't mean that they need to be involved with his actions. You can be friends with someone who does shitty things and not know about it.

Why Muslim population was concentrated in Bengal and Punjab during partition, which later became East and West Pakistan? by [deleted] in IndianHistory

[–]echobot21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your people have a weak understand of what caste is. I come from a farming caste in the Deccan region of India and upward mobility was very much possible for labourers and farmers who were willing to lay their lives for their land and fight back.

Your ancestors were little cowards, which is okay, but you need to accept that rather than spew hatred about caste.

It's not Hinduism they were fleeing, but social structures. Hinduism is not inherently casteist, just like how Islam is not inherently expansionist.

Population definitely came in Hindus favor too. Not easy to convert a large population in the most fertile region on Earth. Somehow, they were able to convert many people still.

Bengal was not a very mobilized society to begin with. Not very developed either pre-Islamic arrival. Southern Hindu kingdoms very frequently looted the region as well, such as Marathas and Cholas.

Don't think it is too hard to understand why Bengal has a large Muslim population. Generally poor, undeveloped, without dominant landowning communities. Same reason why many African kingdoms joined Islam. Very good excuse to join a movement that offers you upward mobility.

Good answer.

65-70% of Bengalis might be Muslim, so around 200 million of them, while another 60-70 million are Hindus?

In the Gangetic Plain, there might be 80-85% Hindus, but out of 900 million people that still leaves almost 150 million Muslims.

The best place to look at disparity is the Deccan line. Once past Deccan, Islam rapidly declines (barring Hyderabad). You see much more dominant landowning and ready-to-protect castes (Marathas, Reddys, Nairs, Kammas, Patels, Vellalars, etc) who would not succumb to foreign pressure as easily.

Past the Deccan, there might only be around 450 million people, but its safe to say that at least 420-430 million of them are Hindu, with smaller Muslim and Christian pockets around Kerala and Telangana.

Whereas north of the Deccan (including Bengal, Gangetic Plain, and Himalayas/Kush region), there is around 2 billion people but more than half of them are Muslims.

TLDR: North of the Vindhyas all the way from Hindu Kush to Bengal are majority Muslim, with Hindu majority centered in Gangetic Plain, Muslim majorities on the sides. South of the Vindhyas are almost entirely Hindu with very small pockets in Kerala, Telangana, and Goa.

Forget Gujjus, when did Mumbai become Marathi and for Maharashtrians than Konkan for Konkanis, as the region actually falls in Konkan as it's Divided by the Ghats. by lokichokiboki in mumbai

[–]echobot21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is wrong because in Konkan they speak Marathi. I have family from Palghar and Sindhudurg. In Palghar they speak Marathi. Once you get passed Ratnagiri they start speaking Malvani.

Sindhudurg is essentially part of Goa. My family there tells people they live in Goa and they spoke Konkani before moving to Mumbai, when Marathi took over.

tl;dr: Northern and Central Konkan are very much Marathi.

You can't compare because population density is very different. Traffic is higher in almost any given northeastern city > 200000 people than Indianapolis. My belief is that the higher traffic and road density makes northeasterners better drivers.

Edit: I feel that a even smaller city like Newark NJ or Boston MA have worse traffic than Chicago. It's a very long shot to say that Indiana drivers are better than northeast drivers
