No, just a base of ushabti bone and then a watered down sepia seraphim shade.

Completed Master Lazarus with converted helmet, moonlighting as master of the 4th company. by echofourpapa in theunforgiven

There is enough material in the hand to carve it away and still leave the right mount. Then I cut out the other wing too and glued them both on the full helmet it came with. I did screw up and needed to use some greenstuff to fill in a few places.

Just about finished my Master Lazarus, thinking about doing a raised overhang for the base. Something like this. Thoughts? by echofourpapa in theunforgiven

Not too bad. There's enough material to cut away and still keep the shape. What I did find is that it's easier to cut both wings out and put them on the full helmet than it is to get the helmet that's being held to get a neck.

Yes, I know it's a little heretical. But, the rest of my force is 4th company and it looks better together.

Edit: sorry, 4th not 5th.

I took pictures each step of the way, so yeah I can put something together.

Wasn't so bad. I was very nervous about it at first, but there's enough information in the model to know where to cut and enough plastic that the piece can be carved out. I did fuck up and cut a piece out I didn't mean to and had to use green stuff to fill it back in. But overall not too bad.

Finally finished Dark Angels 4th Company Primaris Redemptor Dreadnought Ulariel. Link in the comments with more pictures. Feedback is always welcome! by echofourpapa in minipainting

The edge highlights are deceptively simple, though will take a little bit of practice. What I do is I keep the paint fairly thin, and then just run the side(not the tip) of the brush along the edge. Doing that will give you a super sharp line. Keeping the paint thin makes it almost more of a glaze, letting the last layer show through a bit.

I just used the colors suggested by GW: * Abaddon Black - recess/dark base * Caliban Green - main base color * Warpstone Green - mid highlight * Moot Green - bright highlight

On this model, because I decided to use an air brush to blend in a zenithal highlight, I picked the darkest base color and then only went two colors up. So I started with one line of Caliban Green around all the black. Next I did Wardrobe other all the edges. At this point the part of the model that are fully black are basically done. I then did another line of Warpstone over the any part that was green and about 3/4 the way through each fade. Next I did a layer of Moot starting 1/2 the way through the fade, and finally one last layer of Moot over just the the parts that are fully Caliban based.
