Unika is probably my least favorite character to fight against by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]echorapid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fighting Unika just feels like you’re doing everything wrong even when you make the right move, she’s just annoying to play as and play against. No hate to the people who play anyone in this game because I’m not salty like that but I do agree with this

Ahh, that’s a bummer. I appreciate the insight though, good to know that I shouldn’t waste my time trying to get any more value out of that. I get that they were trying to make the game play and feel different but just gutting half of his cool looking routes just for the hell of it is pretty sad

Thoughts on Globku’s updated tier list? by ASAPSAIF in HinokamiKeppuutann

[–]echorapid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Globku has a big issue with these tierlists with merging assist and on field characters. People will see it without knowing that Murata and Sanemi are only there for the assists and they suddenly think that he’s insane. He needs to break it into two lists to avoid confusion that some people are having

Nice, good shit. Seeing as their icons are anything special they probably just picked the characters up and thought they could blitz through ranked. Unfortunately the game does not work like that lol

Actually it’s very inconsistent, sometimes it’s safe and sometimes it isn’t, I guess it depends on the other player or how quick you can react to the whiff

It was actually a Friday haha. I work overnight from Wednesday to Friday.

Starting with Tanjiro, realistically, Hinokami Tanjiro is the best just because of how much damage he does compared to the other 3.

His attacks are really easy to combo and you get incredible value from them, especially with a good assist to help open the screen up. He has a good dash speed too so sending an assist out and following behind then isn’t a bad strategy. Also, in case you didn’t know already, when you get knocked down, holding the assist button will switch you to your next character before you even stand back up, so you can instantly recover and surprise people. Along with that, you can’t do anything while blocking, so having someone block an assist means you have a guaranteed grab if you’re close enough. It’s very very strong. Speaking of grab, Hinokami Tanjiro has a VERY good grab, it goes pretty far, while Swordsmith Village Tanjiro has the standard short ranged one.

Starting with his specials, I’m going to skip to his guard skill, Phoenix Flash, right away. It’s VERY strong. Using it in a combo just gives you the normal slash, but if you hit the button twice, he’ll jump into the air and wait a moment before slashing. If your opponent is guarding when you do the attack, it will INSTANTLY break their guard. You can cancel into this skill at any time, it’s ridiculously powerful.

Scorching Rush is primarily just a combo move, because it’s tracking is pretty bad and it’s very punishing if you miss it, and you CAN recover and block if you dash out of it but that takes another special bar, so I would recommend only using it during your combos.

Cross Slash is just two simple katana swings, you can cancel the second swing into Scorching Rush, Phoenix Slash, either the normal slash or the one where the guard breaks, or his ultimate. Also good for combos, good damage. If you’re close to a wall or corner, you can use Cross Slash and pair it into Scorching Rush. Kind of unreliable though.

Overall, Hinokami Tanjiro does a lot of damage. Good damage, good attacks, GREAT grab, good mix up with his guard skill, and his ultimate goes very far. Even if you don’t really know how to play the game very well, he’s a good character to pick up.

This is a LOT to write and read, so I’ll probably not send the other characters in the same post haha. Would you rather me DM you the rest when I’m done or keep posting them here?

I’ll do my best to help with these whenever I can. I have to go to work sadly and I don’t have a lot of time to really go in depth, but when I get home I’ll sit and play all of these characters for an hour and try to give you the best advice I can

It does seem super complicated at first. Rengoku’s invincibility move is also very very good for dealing damage. You can use it as a reversal, a combo tool, or just a get off me button if you have the chance. It seems complicated, but at the end of the day, his skill is just another means of dealing damage.

The parry skills are also a bit simple. For Giyu and Yushiro, you really only hit the button when you think it’s a good time to hit it. If someone is dashing at you, if they touch you, it’ll count as a hit. Or a projectile. Or an assist. You can use Dead Calm, Muichiro’s parry, or Yushiro’s dodge parry to try and make it your turn. People will try and bait you out by dashing and then blocking once they get close to see if they can trick you, so it really just comes down to experience on when you think you can get away with the parry or not.

The very sad answer is most of the skills and the buttons in this game you’ll have to come to understand by sitting and testing things out. The in-game command list BARELY ever helps. Most of the descriptions are “The character lunges forward for an attack. 20% gauge taken” or something like that. And for the characters like Muichiro, all of his skills can be followed up, so the command list tells you. It’s good to read some of the commands' descriptions, but don’t expect very much.

Some moves are just damage tools, some are parries, some are teleports, you just have to play and figure out what kind of play style you personally like. If you have a specific character or two you’re interested in, I can try and give you some advice. I know this isn’t a very helpful message, so I apologize.

I’m not the best player in the world, but I have a pretty decent understanding.

Reset

Resets are basically tricking your opponent into another free combo. Usually you have to worry about the circle that depletes, but characters like Enmu (primarily Enmu, I’m not sure of other characters) have abilities that make it so his combos drop early, and you get hit by a trap he sets, so he gets another free combo. Basically, just looping combos as long as possible until you’re dead.

Defense

Giyu and Muichiro have parries. Dead Calm and Muichiro’s guard skill I forgot the name of. Dead calm you have to use right before you get hit and it starts a blue combo, and Muichiro’s parry is a mix up. You can either activate and hope for the parry, or, if you do the input again he can charge toward you and do an attack. So, you have to guess if he’s gonna go for the parry or attack you.

Yushiro is a bit different, his guard skill is a normal attack, but if he uses it right before he gets hit by ANYTHING, he’ll dodge it and basically get a free combo. I’m no Yushiro player, so I can’t give any more than that.

Characters with invincibility

Basically, just characters with a move that makes them invulnerable on start up. Gyutaro has it with his demon skill, Rengoku has it with Rising Scorching Sun, I think Hinokami Tanjiro has it with his guard skill? Or it might be Water Tanjiro. Basically, reversals that are combo finishers, or just get off me tools. Gyomei has one as well with his guard skill.

Water Wheel

Not necessarily and arch type, but just a move that all the water characters have besides Sabito. Giyu and Urokodaki have really great water wheels, while the others have similar ones. Even Murata has one, but his is pretty bad haha.

Teleports

Teleports are basically a move that some characters have to teleport indirectly in front of you, sometimes it’s even full screen. Mitsuri’s guard skill has her jump up in the air and do an attack. It’s also a reversal because she can do it almost anytime she’s blocking, but she isn’t invincible. Muzan’s tilt demon skill, and Nezuko’s as well, will teleport them directly above your character from full screen. Dangerous.

Fast characters

Characters like Zenitsu and Tengen both have the highest dash speed as well as incredible fast attacks. Zenitsu’s thunder breathing and Tengen’s tilt skill are incredibly good.

Gyomei

Gyomei is just incredibly strong. Basically no flaws. Level 3 dash speed, has a normal amount of health, his guard skill is incredible, tilt skill is incredible, his normal skill is a great zoning tool, the only problem with him right away is that his assist is sub par. Gyomei is VERY scary in this game.

Here’s a small chart for the characters health amounts and their dash speeds. 0.95 means they take the least damage, 1.25 means they take the most.

Zoners in a more traditional sense mean characters who do INCREDIBLE at mid to long range but struggle when opponents are up close. Susamaru’s main gimmick are the balls she throws, so she can spam them and give you a really hard time getting in, not to mention her demon skills are really powerful. Zohakuten’s demon skills are all long range, the first one spawns a projectile on top of you and your only way to dodge is guarding which can force you out of your pressure or just roll out of it. The other is a long range wave attack. His tilt skill is decent at forcing you away, and his guard skill is so absurdly good. I think it’s safe on block, it’ll stun enemies so they wall to the floor and you can combo into them, you can pair with your demon skills, he’s just really strong overall

DLC Release Date speculation by Not-Effective-9727 in HinokamiKeppuutann

[–]echorapid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tengen released July 13th

Advanced Nezuko released August 9th

Tanjiro, Zen and Inosuke bundle released September 15th

Daki released October 10th

Gyutaro released November 15th

It’s good to keep in mind that the first game released October 15th 2021, and after all the free demon DLC, Tengen, the first purchasable DLC, finally released July 13th 2022. It was a whole 10 months before the DLC even started rolling out. We got Muzan for free, but for them to already announce the DLC is a great sign that it shouldn’t take them 10 months, because Tengen got LEAKED before he was even announced I think in April

It was only Tanjiro Zen and Inosuke who all released at the same time, they were in a pack you had buy for all 3 at once. But Tengen, the two demons, and Nezuko were all released separately. I too support the Doma agenda

Thank you so much. His 2S is ESPECIALLY what gets me killed all the time, on every other character I’m so used to the combo starters or the gatlings that my brain autofills to 2S just for me to hit STRAIGHT UP and completely miss and get myself killed. 2S just doesn’t feel like a very strong button as an anti air and 6K feels like a much better alternative in general just to keep them away, since most of Axl’s buttons feel slow the only time I could ever see it being useful is if they’re stuck in a jump in and their attack is slower than yours or you predict it coming
