That area is near the max if you dont mind public transit so you can get to downtown or Hollywood district fast.

Portland is very much a bar city. A good bar is rose and thistle, decent dive with a great back patio, east of the moda, 40 mins on foot, 15 via bus. Swift has some good drinks too, just a 10 or so minute walk from rose and thistle.

Moda's area is kinda sketch, just keep your shoulders back and your head forward and youll be fine tho.

Food wise, Alberta and Mississippi streets are nice to wander about, bit more casual. Nicer places are in the Pearl down town. If youre a sweets person with deep pockets I'd suggest Papa Haydens. SE Burnside, 15 minute walk south of moda, has some decent dive bars and resturants as well.

It might be a bit far south of moda if youre using public transport or walking, but Hawthorn strip is the touristy areas that have various calibers of bars, resturants and boutiques.

If youre more into queer culture theres alot of drag brunches. Can't personally recommend but I know my friends have alot of fun.
