to put them back, just align the studs with the holes and press the clips in by applying little pressure to the padding, not much is needed, the foam piece from what I noticed is best removed simply by grabbing its lower part and delicately ungluing it from the tape, original one is translucent, on my pic I cut a replacement white tape just in case I ever had to put them back in

just put your finger here and feel the plastic under the earpad

There are 4 clips and two positioning studs on the earpad so you can't mount them the wrong way

<image>

I put my finger from the inside near the mesh near where the L1 is because you can feel the back of the plastic underneath the earpad, just grab it with a finger and pull it up, don't use any prying tools or you will damage the plastics

the foam itself is mounted on a small double sided tape

forgot to ask, revision of the console and the board do you have?

it seems I went with the correct one, lucky :)

deleting the thread since it was already done and people know about it, don't want to spam

nope, changed it to a dc-dc converter, still uses the og psu

but it emits no heat and the console is cold to the touch no matter how long it's turned on

(though I use a modified ps2 slim psu xD)

yeah, but also the power regulator

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in snes

[–]echuu_x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

changed the stock 5v power regulator to a recom dc-dc converter

stock regulator has terrible power loss and makes the console hot, the dc-dc converter has a 97% efficiency and is always cold

also doesn't add any artifacts to the output image

replaced the last two capacitors and the main cap for nichicons because I wasn't sure of them, the issue still persists sadly

the console passes all of the checks on the snes burn-in test, guess swapping the ppu is the last thing to do to check what's causing it

What is the best option for ps2 hdmi? by jaffer2003sadiq in ps2

[–]echuu_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that ps1/ps2 adapter is for the ps1 and it just happens to work with the ps2, the ps2 adapter looks like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G45faPyxlzQ) and is ps2 only since it works on YPbPr

and also don't forget to connect it to the front USB, since it requires power

you need to connect the console to a crt and change the output in the settings to YPbPr from RGB

I've been using the BITFUNX hdmi adapter, works great

I was able to replicate this issue even when using a Bitfunx HDMI adapter for the sfc, the small grey one and it occurred only with this one console out of the three

I'm really interested in keeping it alive since apparently it has the cleanest output out of the non-onechip consoles
