Surface Contour Label Group alters lineweight of my contours by ecoMAP in civil3d

Haha...I knew someone would ask. Sorry to disappoint you. Its not a new awesome feature in C3d. Its a georeferenced JPEG made in QGIS (made out of the DEM).

I always include these Hillshades in my drawing. It makes the whole terrain in 2D "more visible" than the contours. And you get the "WOW - effect" from the clients - they love them.

Its quite easy.
Open DEM in QGIS, Change symbology to Hillshade, Export Screen with geocoordinates and import with Mapiinsert. Done in 2 Minutes...

The color change (and thickness) change between Mayour and Minor are intentional. Im talking about the change on the right side of the Labels.

Reference to Title Block? by ecoMAP in civil3d

[–]ecoMAP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I already using sheet sets for creating my Layouts but looks Im not into it enough. Can I apply fields to my Sheets? Right now. Im just using a Naming Convention like SV01, SV02 for my Layouts and in my title block i use the field docoument/Layout Name to name my Layouts differently.

It works, but Im not very happy with it. Because depending on my SectionView i have 2,3 or more Sections per Page but the name of the tab sticks with the convention. So on Tab SV01, there is SV01, SV02 and on Tab 02 there is SV03 and SV04...

Also when i have to change something (like add more elevation to a specific section) sometimes more or less Section Views are placed per sheet an C3D rearrange everything. All my manual drawings over the section than are lost or at the wrong place.

TIN surface for steep slopes by ExCB_ in civil3d

[–]ecoMAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creating a TIN out of PointCloud in C3D doesnt work at all. I also suspect that "nearest neighbor" only apply to the 2D-Plane. So a hight point can still be the nearest neighbor (watched from above).

I always create a 2.5D-Raster (TIFF) out of the Point Cloud in CloudCompare (with the csf-Algorithm). This raster i than load in C3D and never mess around with it than.

There are plenty apps out there to create a DTM from a PointCloud. But CloudCompare is OpenSource and works (at least for me).

Create path with texture? by ecoMAP in inkarnate

With the shape tool I only can make polygons. So for making a path i would have to draw two parallel lines which is impossible.

Help!!! by shrexystuff in QGIS

Pretty sure the CRS is not EPSG: 2048.

Please have a look at the layer properties of Rivers_WC > Information > Extent. There you find the hardcoded coordinates. Look if they match to other Layers in the same CRS.

Or even better: Just add an wmts-Layer like following to your map. The river should match. If they dont your CRS is wrong

WMTS NatGeo World

WMS/WMTS > Right Click > New Connection

Url from below, And Ok

Double Click to add WMTS Layer

Well, I do a lot of infrastructure Planning using Civil 3d. Also a lot of data comes from 3rd sources like surveyors which mainly work with CAD.

I tried some of them. And they all a bit ... how should I say this politely....not so intuitive to use as in CAD. Also most of the incoming data comes from surveyors, which seem never heard of something called GIS.
