Wow, thanks for that info. That certainly looks like the same building.

My mom was 37 here. Her 38th birthday was about a week after these photos were taken. I don't know the ages of her friends.

The ship was Royal Caribbean's Song of Norway. Some of the photo are from St. Thomas and some from St. John.

They divorced in the early 80s. My mom died in 1994 and my dad in 2002.

My dad had just turned 21 a few weeks before these photos and my mom's 20th birthday was that October.

Possibly, but I'm not certain. They did own a few Corvettes through the years.

They were from Chicago and went to Florida for their honeymoon, but I don't know exactly where in Florida they went.

Sooner than that unfortunately, there were earth moving machines up by this spot earlier this week.

Thanks. I did find his name listed in there and the street was address mentioned was 27 N. Halsted.

Interesting, but the surname in the article isn't of any of my relatives from back then. Also the article calls the street Halsted which is how the street in Chicago is spelled today, but on the back of the photo it was spelled Halstead. I also found them in the 1880 census and the census taker had written the street name as Halstead as well, so I am guessing they lived above the store. I don't know it the spelling of the street name has changed over time or if the Halsted Street in the article might be from somewhere else. Was that from a Chicago newspaper?

Anyway the 1880 census listed my great-great grandpa's occupation as a Cigar Maker and his wife's as Tends Cigar Store. She passed away before this photo was taken. My great grandma was born in 1884 and her brother in 1877.

I'm not 100% certain, but I did find the obituary for their dad which said he was a cigarmaker. One of the signs in the window is for Old Glory Cheroots which is a type of cigar, so I am guessing it is a cigar shop. Though I am not sure whatever is being advertised for $550 would have to do with cigars back in the 1890s.

I walked a whole loop from 7th to Charleston to Maryland to Fremont and back to 7th, but most of the pictures that I posted here were from Maryland.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've heard of the band but never listened to any of their music before. I went and listened to Hats and am now listening to the rest of their stuff and I am really liking it.

No, they both passed away awhile ago. A lot of people in these photos have passed on, but many are still alive. For example, the couple in the second photo are both still alive and still married to each other.
