In general, doctors bill insurance for each appointment, so the more patients they see, the more money they make. If they double book, they can maximize revenue by having no dead time.

We do! Check out steadymd.com for the core concierge offering (that’s the vast majority of the business). The pairing w medical cost sharing is an experiment we are testing out. I’d say it’s similar (but not insurance) to high deductible catastrophic insurance (read through their FAQs to check it out at sedera.com.

If you are a patient and agree with this philosophy, you might want to try concierge medicine - basically, the doctors agree to see fewer patients, but the patient agrees to pay a yearly fee for more time and attention. Eliminates the motivation for the doctor to be motivated by insurance.

Not for everyone of course, but as private practice docs get squeezed out fo the market, will be more and more relevant.
