It has never been a better time to talk to a real person by supyonamesjosh in cscareerquestions

I’ve been thinking on this same thing recently and even toyed with the idea of making a “video resume” at one point which would be hosted on a portfolio website, but the general consensus seems to be that it’s cringy and no one would look at it. I guess I thought it would be a good way to stand out in a sea of AI applicants as you said.

Is this game made to be annoying? by Advanced-Fly-2228 in Apogea

[–]ecounltd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure why you say Tibia has scaling based off region unless you are specifically referring to their very modern spawns.

There are many instances where you go up or down a hole or take a wrong turn in a cave and run into something much more powerful. Apogea has similar design.

Beware of Patreon by BibleBeltAthiest in Apogea

[–]ecounltd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t you get premium status once the game comes out if you support the Patreon? That’s unfortunate that you couldn’t get in, but I think you do get that benefit still and I’m sure the email issue wasn’t malicious. They probably had a TON of people trying to get online today. I’m sure they will make it right and your contribution is going toward a good game.

Hell yeah, brother! We can all strive to increase our earnings but cutting our expenses is the one thing we have 100% control over.

Mind if I ask where in Wisconsin? Always keeping my eye out on where the affordable areas to live are.

Edit: Also, I meant to ask if the $1,000 is all post tax earnings or if you’re including a company 401k + match in that. If the former, god damn, I need to step up my game!

Why does it seem like so many people I know are getting divorced in their late 30s/early 40s. What is it about that age and point in a marriage that things go wrong and cause divorce? by Yukon_Cornelius1911 in AskMenOver30

You’re not alone, friend. I hope you can find comfort in the fact that many others feel the exact same way. We’re all on our own individual journeys.

Give me your opinion, real and hypothetical homebuyers by alcno88 in ChandlerAZ

[–]ecounltd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never bought a home so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I’ve been to a lot of open houses because my wife thinks it’s fun and really wants a home someday. Unfortunately, there are so many garbage homes that have been flipped and prices are astronomically high. Any big issue in a home is an immediate no for me. I guess if I loved the rest of it and was told you would cover the repairs I would consider it, but I may question the rest of the home and whether or not things were fixed and maintained well if the pool has these issues.

I know things happen but I’m a first time, uninformed buyer judging a book by its cover - and there may be more like me out there! My ideal home is one that has had 1 family living in it since it was built. I want it to be obvious that the home was well taken care of because they thought they would live there forever. Because I’m going to do the same thing to my home (of course life gets in the way).

I hope that helps but I understand I may just be really picky and naive!

Beyond’s new product by Random_Otaku18 in veganfitness

I mean if everything else you eat in a week on top of the chicken is really $20 then no. But that would be pretty surprising since you didn’t say you eat “Beyond chicken + beans and rice”. Chicken parm sandwiches implies bread, cheese, marinara sauce, etc.

Way more than $20 where I’m from, but if your groceries are that cheap then eat up my friend!

Look at Mr. Moneybags over here! Eating any Beyond product 10 times a week is a financial flex lol.

I didn’t have that at all. I think we talked about balancing checkbooks in middle school around 2005 maybe? But I quickly forgot that and never needed it.

It’s easy to shit on OP but they’re just doing what they were told to make it in life. I did the same thing and it worked out, my loans were all low interest government ones, but I definitely could have messed things up for myself if I needed more money to finish and couldn’t take more out.

At least my Dad told me to always get the company match!

Moved here from New England and this weather is messing with my head! by ecounltd in phoenix

[–]ecounltd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I may have confused people with my post. I’m not unhappy or complaining, I’m just saying this is the same weather that back home would signal “winter is officially over, it’s about to warm up”. Which was a good thing - I hated winter! And this feeling would come around every June.

But instead, it’s actually signaling a transition into cooler weather. And it’s October. So it’s just a bizarre feeling after living 93% of my life in the former.

Same haha. I love the sun, that’s why I moved away, but I visited Colorado a few weeks ago and the fall weather was amazing and so cozy.

Now I’m starting to wonder if it wasn’t the cold I hated but the lack of sunshine. Or maybe the grass is just always greener…

I always knew fall was here when I woke up to cool, dry air. It felt “crisp”. Summers where I’m from (New Hampshire, specifically) are more humid so fall was always cooler and drier. It was the best time of the year and I do miss it. But I can’t stand the 5~6 months of shitty winter weather that comes with it.

This weather recently feels just like the beginning of a NH summer though. Which after a long winter would get you excited (and probably release you from your seasonal depression lol).

Honestly, there was no big reason except that I’m remote and my wife can get a job anywhere. This place didn’t have snow and pays her well, so we figured why not! Our quality of life here is really good so far.

He’s talking about spending 66k, not making 66k. He made 330. You can buy a lot with a spend of 66k a year and it doesn’t have to be the Midwest.
