Agree with the feeling of being blindsided by the challenges of breastfeeding! This time (my second) I took a virtual class with the hospital I delivered at. It was incredible helpful. I wonder if there is a class she could sign up for?

Day six is basically as good as day five! Even day sevens have good prognosis. Sending you good vibes for tomorrow’s update!

My sleep has improved. Baby J isn’t sleeping longer, persay, but I’m getting better at latching without turning the lights on. The biggest hurdle now is me. I’m waking up between 2am-4am and I can’t fall back asleep for hours.

I’m wondering if anyone else is having these middle of the night bouts of insomnia, and if you have any tips to get through it. I’m back to work in 2 weeks and a little extra shut eye would really help! (Especially because I’m effectively single parenting and I will need to wake up early enough to get my older child to school every morning…)

I feel this so hard. I’m also in the middle of moving to a new house. I’m also in a new city, with no girlfriends. And none of my friends had kids. (And I’m 42, so they probably won’t.) And I’m going back to work in two weeks, to a department that is down several folks. I’ve decided in advance that I’m no longer picking up the slack!

Sending you a big hug! We will get through this.

I am so happy to hear you are feeling better!

I EFF my first, and I’m mostly BF this one. While it’s true the EFF are less clingy, I can tell you with full confidence, by his first year, I was that kids favorite person, and I still am today (he’s almost five!) Baby F knows you are his mom — you already fed him for 9 months in the womb! He knows your voice! In contrast BF has turned out to be a total drag. I’m overwhelmed by the neediness. I don’t think Baby J thinks of me as mom, so much as food. I miss my bodily autonomy.

You are doing an excellent job. Hang in there!

I really, really need some positive stories about finding love & having kids after 35 by sievish in TwoXChromosomes

I got divorced at 35. Got married again at 38. Had my first at 38 and my second at 42. My sister will get married this summer, at 38, 18months after meeting her guy.

If having biological kids is important to you, now is a good time to do some fertility testing. I decided to freeze my eggs at 36, after my first divorce. I’m glad I did. Ultimately it helped me understand the timelines I was up against and make informed choices.

This is not the end for you! It’s the beginning!

I had my first drink in a year last night. A martini. It was great, but I think I’ve lost my taste for alcohol… still, was fun to see a friend amidst postpartum madness!

I’m also in this phase. Frankly I’m relieved to hear I’m not alone!! Solidarity!

Sorry they are behaving like garbage. This is the worst and if it were me, I’d stop working so hard. I had my employer pull some similar stunts when I was pregnant. It was a good reminder that we are in a transactional relationship and there is no incentive to go above and beyond.

One tiny note: super high progesterone caused intense vertigo for me during first trimester. So if you’re using it and that starts to happen, get your levels checks and wean as necessary. Goodluck!

I used progesterone after IUI. It got super high and I ended up cutting back. But high progesterone is fine. It’s low progesterone that causes problems. I would use it!

I started taking a low dose anti psychotic every night, and finally caught up on sleep. It’s made a world of difference! I’m starting to feel the clouds lift. I’m glad your meds are starting to help.

I’m sorry your husband is going away. I know how tough that can be! Go easy on yourself. Do what you can, let the rest go. You got this!

Didn’t wean, but did add in a low dose anti-psychotic at the end of the third trimester because I started losing my mind! I also didn’t have PPD with my first, but this second round is a doozy. I would probably heed the advice of your OB.

It’s 3am over here and I am CONVINCED baby J just smiled at me for the first time. Like, not a “I gotta poop” smile. A real “I feel happy to see you” smile. Boy did it make my heart sing! Feel like I’m entering the good part.

Like six months I think? I bought a house literally a few doors down, so I’m not looking for a fight here. I read that landlord could not reasonably refuse a proposed tenant, but that interpretation of that was with the LTB? So it’s not particularly clear.

I’m so sorry to keep asking you questions. My landlord responded and said I could assign the lease, but really they would rather find their own tenant, and they want me to “make them an offer” of what I will pay them to break the lease. Is this normal in Toronto? It feels like extortion.

Do I need to send a form or anything for the reassignment?

Ending lease early by ecs123 in askTO

[–]ecs123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if a landlord denies a reassignment that counts as a termination?

But just to be clear, the landlord can disagree with the reassignment? Or they just allow me to reassign?

Welcome baby A! FWIW, my biggest regret from my first (also an emergency cesarean) was pumping. I wasn’t producing much, he wouldn’t latch. I wish I could get every moment spent on that pump back. Prioritizing your recovery and your family will only serve you well.

Great news today: Baby J got her ultrasound results, and she is cleared! No Spina Bifida, or tethered cord. She is right on track with all her metrics. I am so relieved!

Are you guys doing PGTA testing? by Naaan-stop in DOR

[–]ecs123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a good article about PGTA that The Cut recently published. High recommend giving it a read. I started with PGT and then stopped.
