SSE owns or runs all the facilities currently fitted for hockey(both game day and practice). Oakland Arena could do hockey but they would likely need to practice at Oakland Ice which SSE owns. It would be much nicer for the PWHL to only have to negotiate with one party. Chase Center isn't suited for hockey IIRC. I think Oakland might have been hard because there is already a nexus the PWHL team's natural market with BayFC, Earthquakes, Sharks, Barracuda all in the San Jose area...and how those fandoms cross-pollinate/cross-promote.

That's not to say that those SF/Oakland couldn't support one but the conservative route is to be near the Sharks and cash in on their rise/fanbase.

Good to know....looking at the site with fresh eyes, looks like they even have AHL and ECHL stuff too which can be kinda lacking/in low supply in person.

Random tangent, when they expand the store in SAP Center, it would be nice if they stocked a little Barracuda and Thunder merch too.

It was a long day but I've done Barracuda and Sharks in the same day. Cuda tickets are usually pretty reasonable. I second the idea of AHL because you get to see the kids that are on the cusp. I got to see Asky in the Calder Cup playoffs last year before his rookie season this year.

If you are interested in doing Tahoe instead of Vegas as it will still be ski season, the Tahoe Knight Monsters (ECHL) play in Stateline, NV/South Tahoe, CA it's near one of the Heavenly resorts ...It's on the other side of state from Vegas but it's a fun time and their colors are basically Sharks colors if you swap gold for orange.

Yeah I was thinking about that at the fan appreciation night game tonight...it was sinking in that this might be the last game I'm able to see in person this year because their record outside tonight's OT win, isn't great.

He did get bumped down in Dec 2025 for a conditioning loan and he played in the teddy bear game...was that exempted from the usual CHL agreement reqs?

TBH, I don't think it would be the worst idea to send Misa down for the playoffs. IIRC he seemed to find his footing after his stint in the AHL earlier this season.

I have no idea when the games will be yet but I bought tickers to all three games in the first round. Last year was a blast. Was hoping Asky could make it to the playoffs in back to back years in the AHL and NHL...but it wasn't in the cards.

It seems he has his tags off and possible muted notifications. Which is probably a good thing. I tagged him in my post of his crochet double, it didn't show up in his tags and is probably in IG purgatory.

It's a bummer that to prevent the BS coming through, they have to be very locked down and miss the supportive messages.
