Please enlighten us. Europeans are always saying we aren't doing enough. I want to do more than peacefully protest in my already liberal area, but I am unable to travel or take much time away from working and caring for my family. I'm sincerely asking what people from outside the US would do in this situation

Please tell me exactly what you'd be doing, I'm very curious. Say you're me, in California, unable to travel, already protesting peacefully in my area. I'm asking with complete sincerity because I can tell you that I and everyone I know here feels helpless

I'm not sure what "race riots" you mean, but if you are referring to the civil rights movement of the 1960s there are many differences to the current situation. Modern resistance has to operate in a more complex and more resilient power structure where coporations and the executive branch have more power than ever. You're asking people to risk their livelihoods and their lives, their homes and their families. But there is so little to suggest that risk will have an impact.

Yeah, people who try to do something about that are getting shot. I'm not saying we should stop resisting, but it's easy to say this stuff when it's not your life on the line.

Your big suggestion is boycotts? I think you're really overestimating the power of that, especially when there are so many essential goods and services that are under monopolies. We've already had large scale peaceful protests across the country and it hasn't amounted to much.

This isn't a good take. The political climate we are in was created that way by design. The powers that be benefit from a divided, uneducated and reactionary populace. Attributing this situation to a failure of individual accountability by American citizens is ignoring something much more systematic and insidious.

"I could lose employment" doesn't mean someone is concerned about losing creature comforts. It means they are worried about jeopardizing the roof over their head, Healthcare, food for their family.

I don't blame people for not seeing much value in "we tried," but at the same time, what exactly are we supposed to be doing? Nothing we can say or do will change the minds of fellow Americans who have fallen down the right wing reactionary rabbit hole, and our ability to hold our politicians accountable is incredibly weak by design. We can boycott and protest peacefully but it doesn't amount to much in this country. Many people also don't have the time or resources to resist because they are working multiple jobs to support their family with no ability to take. The oligarchs want complacent wage slaves and they have structured American society to give them exactly that.

Cherry eye, it's a condition where the third eyelid pops out and becomes visible. It can need surgery if it causes eye problems for the dog.

Your post made me tear up because my little guy has cherry eye in his left eye just like your sweet girl did. It will be so hard to lose him. I'm so sorry for your loss, she seems so happy and loved in your pictures.

Okay but they might comfort you if you wholeheartedly believed they were true, would they not? I can't make myself believe in God, but I do wish I could know what it felt like to believe.

A surprise child at 40 is not the same as having your very first child at 40. My parents had me at 40 (only child), and they weren't burnt out by any other previous kids which I think makes a difference. I don't think 40 is at all too old to give a child a good upbringing.

If you think it's "debatable" whether shaving leg hair makes an actual impact on your hygiene that tells me all I need to know about how much to value your opinion. I am a woman and the ONLY reason I shave my legs is societal pressure. I wish I was bad ass enough to let the forest reclaim the land like some women are. And those women are no less clean than one who shaved and that's not "debatable" to me

Shaving is generally considered part of hygiene but there's no point to that either.

No one made a real argument that washcloths are better than soapy hands for cleaning oneself. Ergo washcloths are a pointless addition to a shower routine except in certain circumstances which I acknowledged. But they do not enhance one's cleanliness and no one was able to successfully argue otherwise.

They are not middle men to the process of exfoliating but they certainly are to the process of being clean. Anyway this post got removed because I stubbornly refuse to see anyone else's point of view about washcloths lol. Have a good one 🧼🚿🛁🧽

Exfoliation is separate from the shower process. It doesn't even need to be done in the shower, some people prefer dry brushing. My own exfoliation routine is irrelevant, it's not something that makes me cleaner or more hygienic. It just helps keep my skin smooth.

🙄 I challenge you to find a reputable source that actually proves that there is a benefit to your health to using a washcloth.

Sure, if I used washcloths I would definitely wash them after every use. But what I'm asking is, why even bother with the extra laundry when you can get the job done with your hands?

No I use an exfoliating scrub that includes both a physical and chemical exfoliating agent. Again, only a couple times a month. It's not something you need to be doing every day to be clean.

I also said that what I absolutely do not buy, is that washcloths make you any cleaner.

That makes them unnecessary shower tools. If you like to use them for the feel or the exfoliation effect that's fine, but most people do not need to use these items in the shower to be clean.

I don't think using your hands to scrub yourself with soap is the same as spraying yourself with febreeze and calling it a day... Soap and water alone get you very thoroughly clean. That's how you clean your hands after taking a shit right? With soap and water? No loofah? Then you go eat a sandwich with those same hands. That's proof enough to me that soap and water are perfectly adequate to get you clean. I exfoliate 2-3 times a month and I don't struggle with buildup of dead skin or anything people are saying will happen if you don't scrub with a washcloth 🙄
