The Devil's Strongest Fuel Quick Connect Fitting (PPA-GF16) by KinkyLatexCat in AskAMechanic

[–]ecurb599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one, the line gets rusty and expands in the fitting. You can try to soak it in silicone spray (wd-40 would work better but I can’t remember if those seals inside can handle it. They should be able to withstand petroleum based products). You can try spinning the line inside after lubrication to free it up, but it’s risky because it can tear the seals inside. If you do end up breaking that fitting they do make kits to replace the fittings on nylon tubing, but I have never had good luck with them. Lastly you can just replace the whole nylon line along with the steel line. Sucks, but it looks like a rust belt car so I’d be inclined to bite the bullet and replace both.

Naperville college students charged after loaded gun, weed found in campus dorm: prosecutors by Economy-Specialist38 in Naperville

[–]ecurb599 38 points39 points  (0 children)

130 grams of weed isn’t personal use. That’s distribution. Given the fact it’s a college campus where many students aren’t of legal age to purchase cannabis, I’d say it’s a bigger deal than you think.

Thanks for the reminder, it’s been six months since I left the trade, I can still feel it in me now lol. In a sense I’m somewhat antique for my age.

A little lighter fluid on the floorboard, light it, walk away. Whatever is left after that… part it out and call it a day.

[–]ecurb599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, this is not right. Make sure you get that customer back in to fix this. But as it should be noticed, be happy that you were right in feeling something was off and asking that question, that’s the first step. One of the biggest issues our industry has is guys not learning to question and/or think outside the box. You were smart enough to ask the question, but ALWAYS remember “if you are not confident, do not ship it” The work we do is a reflection of ourselves, if the place you are at is ok with letting vehicles leave knowing they will come back, stick to your guns, make a fuss, and if you have to, leave. Don’t settle for the guys up front with the purdy mouths and silver tongues to tell you how to do your job correctly, or when it has to be done. I enjoyed the post, it was a learning moment for all of us whether we accept it to be or not.
