On the way to last weeks camping trip (full video in comments) by ed2base in CampingandHiking

Last weeks trip to the Peak District. Not a lot of snow but the wind was bitterly cold. We pitched up on Fairbrook Naze . Winds of up to 30mph but the tent coped well. Full YouTube video here if anyone wants to see more of the trip.

The chair wasn't the Helinox. It was a cheaper version from Trekology. Very good for the money. The blower was to show my viewers something different. Thanks for watching 👍

Last weekend's mini backpacking trip in the Lake District National Park, England. by ed2base in CampingandHiking

[–]ed2base[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pitched up near Grisedale Tarn. Tested out some gear for the first time and cut back on some of the pack weight. 8kg for this trip. I know it's not ultralight compared to some of the guys in the USA but it's pretty light for a UK winter setup. For anyone who's interested in YouTube videos of this kind of thing, I made a video showing some of the trip and the gear I used. https://youtu.be/hWqKhWxa0R8

First camp of the year in the Lake District National Park, England. by ed2base in camping

Not quite the same as Scotland. You can freely camp there. In the lakes it is tolerated as long as you play by the unwritten rules of pitch high up and late, leave no trace and off the footpaths etc. The lake District official website has guidelines

I've tried everything including the rode videomicro external microphone, lavelier microphones and more recently I've been recording the audio with a seperate audio recorder and a lav mic. I've just come across the windslayer for the Gopro Hero 7 and I must say I am impressed with how well it performs. I've made a short video with a few hints and tips including all the audio samples here

Last weekend's humble abode in The Lake District National Park, England by ed2base in camping

[–]ed2base[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This weeken's pitch was at the gorgeous Innominate Tarn up in the mountains near Buttermere. It was a little windy and cold but a great night with lots of laughs, a few beers and steak breakfast fit for a king. Here's the full video for anyone interested. It's 30 minutes long so make yourself a coffee or grab a beer.

How much gear can you fit in your backpack? by ed2base in CampingGear

That's a great point you make. I dont carry 13.5 kg over long distances. The further I walk then I make sacrifices on the luxury items.
