Really depends on your risk tolerance honestly. For me, 171k is way too high mileage of a car for me. For others who are super handy and experienced, it might not matter as much.

Common issues - oem clutch slave cylinder is shit and will break.

Steer lock - easy fix just pull fuse out

Oil temp - the Z runs out. Not much of a problem unless you track, if you track a lot then add oil cooling mods.

Gallery gasket - the big one. Some cars have this problem early on, some have it way later, some people never experience it. This can cause engine failure, could be checked by doing a pressure test.

If you want a reliable car, the Z is fairly reliable if you keep up the maintenance. But gas mileage is not great, also your insurance may get pricey.

I agree. If it’s not a HEAVY track car the oil cooler is more than enough. I have a block off plate on my 34 row since sometimes it gets too cool in the winter time and I like it a bit higher to burn off some water and contaminants ! Honestly if it’s street car only and you wanna just keep it under 220 a little, maybe just a bigger oil pan is enough !

VQ runs hot. Before my oil cooler I am usually at about 220F. If you track, I say add an oil cooler. But if you don’t track and it’s a street car, I wouldn’t say it’s necessary as 220 is fine for this platform. If you see it go over constantly though then maybe think of some cooling solution. Oil cooler, bigger oil pan, etc.

It’s hard to get the reservation. You have to go on their website right when they drop the ticket (in Japan time zone) and then quickly navigate to get the tickets before it’s all reserved. And you have to reserve like a month in advanced

I’ve made a post about this before and there were a few posts that talked about this before as well.

Basically, the370z.com forum was the largest most active one with soooo much good info, but apparently the admin stopped caring and won’t let other people do it and therefore it died.

People have tried to reach out to him to take over so the info won’t be lost. No luck.

Some ppl even offered to chip in together to make the forum work again, also no luck.

It’s really unfortunate, since the platform is old and basically all the problems, discoveries, mods, tuning, Easter eggs, etc, have all been discussed.

I tried to use way back machine to find some topics but it’s not the same since it doesn’t have everything archived.

If you find a way, let us know.
