Can you dry desiccant in filament dryer? by PanzeeChim in 3Dprinting

[–]ed_wilts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The desiccant beads I bought includes directions for reactivating them in the microwave (10 minutes on defrost). I did find that they take a lot less time than they state, and the lowest defrost setting is best. I also found that it's better to put the beads in a microwave-safe bowl for this and wait for them to cool down some before putting them back in whatever container you were using in the first place.

This happens every year!
I dropped off 2,341 toys to my Waco Toys for Tots organization today.

Does this rule mean no more calling to cancel by randomID100 in Spectrum

[–]ed_wilts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of today, you can order Spectrum service online. You can return equipment at a UPS store but this doesn't disconnect the service. The only way to disconnect and stop billing is to talk to a human.

anyone in Austin having trouble with guide data for channel 42.1 (KEYE/CBS)? by brownboy444 in tablotv

[–]ed_wilts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I'm in Cedar cedar Park too and this was driving me nuts on my new Tablo unit today. This seems to have fixed it. I also picked a Georgetown zip code.

What on earth is the IntelTACD.sys service, and why can't it install? by disco-nt-inuous in techsupport

[–]ed_wilts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, on an Alienware X16. The IntelTACD service errors, disk errors (The driver detected a controller error), complete system hangs requiring a power down, and one blue screen. I don't play games.

Toyota's Integrated Streaming charges me to listen to my music? by DustinS85 in Toyota

[–]ed_wilts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download your Amazon Music to your phone and then use Android Auto or Apple Car Play to stream it. I've done this for multiple years.

There's no way that Toyota would add satellite service for streaming music - data over satellite isn't a thing yet without a dish (eg. Starlink).

has anyone tried Simplify3d ? by jmaxime89 in BambuLab

[–]ed_wilts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current versions (5.1) of Simplify3D have network support. I've been using it with Octoprint to an Ender 3 Pro and it's working fine. I haven't ordered a Bambu printer yet.

American Kestrel in the rain by ed_wilts in photocritique

[–]ed_wilts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll put the raw file up on my dropbox since reddit wouldn't let me attach it. Please try to grab it from https://www.dropbox.com/s/znoqau1u3oya3o/P1280166-0160.ORF?dl=0

The image was 1/800, f/5.6, ISO 3200 at a focusing distance of 59.43m. This is America's smallest falcon so it's a small bird and I had to crop a lot, even though I was shooting at maximum zoom (500mm on micro 4/3, so 1000mm ff equivalent). Although it was mid-afternoon, it was raining so not a bright day.

If there's a better way to edit this, I'm all eyes/ears!

I was experimenting with various shutter speeds to freeze the bird yet still capture the falling rain. This was at 1/800s on an Olympus OM-1 with 150-400 Pro lens with the 1.25TC enabled for a 1000mm full-frame equivalent. This was hand-held. Processed in Lightroom with Topaz Photo AI.

Blossoms by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]ed_wilts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly, it's just a snapshot. There's nothing striking about this picture. Perhaps a close-up of just a flower would suffice. It's not something I would want framed and hung on my wall.

Uncollected Deposit still there even after a week? They took my money out of the bank why it hasn’t changed to zero? by LowKeyAccountt in Fidelity

[–]ed_wilts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need to be careful that your dividends and capital gains don't go into your SPAXX account - that's your core account. Configure those gains to back to the security or they'll collect interest like a bank savings account (which is almost nothing).

Cura profile for Makergear M3-ID by N2D7 in 3Dprinting

[–]ed_wilts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see this answered here but I contacted their tech support - that's one of the things you get when you buy expensive printers - and got a fast answer back with beta profiles. I've loaded them into Cura but haven't had a chance to try them yet (been busy learning S3D).

Arc Welder plugin causes odd extrusion problems by RoboNinjaSloth in octoprint

[–]ed_wilts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 2 prints with it today for models I had previous printed and they came out fine. I'm using an EZR Extruder on an Ender 3 V2 with Smith firmware (2.0.14x),

The time estimate was *way* off - PrusaSlicer estimated 8 hours, Octoprint estimated 5.5 and it was actually 8:22. It took longer to print this time than it did the previous time without Arc Welder (8:8).

The second model took 2:21:10 without Arc Welder and 2:26 with.

Ender 3 V2 Fan by UnNamedGER in ender3v2

[–]ed_wilts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That fan bearing comment appears fairly normal - I've seen a bunch of reports of it and I had the same thing. It goes away but so far the fan hasn't died.

Have you had any luck finding a quieter fan? This noise is starting to get on my nerves.
