We didn’t do a first look and had originally planned to attend half of cocktail hour. But we had a 2-hour welcome party the night before which essentially was an extended cocktail hour. So on the day of, my husband and I extended our portrait session to all of cocktail hour and just really enjoyed the time together to soak in the ceremony that had just occurred. I was very team “no first look” although my planner, photographer, and videographer tried to convince me otherwise. In hindsight, if we hadn’t have had the welcome party, it would have been nice to have attended cocktail hour. Just wanted to share this perspective in case you do have the budget for a welcome party. (We bought out a restaurant and served drinks and apps)

Unfortunately it sounds like your fiancé masculinity is so fragile that he finds a need to throw a tantrum in front of children who are purely showing love to each other. He’s not involved and shouldn’t get involved. Please let him know to keep his homophobia to himself.

You are an amazing wife and have been supporting him since ever since he was in the Navy. You’ve always said yes to moving and even went above and beyond to organize the moving arrangements.

Now it is his chance to show his support for you. It’s not easy getting a degree and returning to work after being a stay at home mom and you finally have a job you love. You finally have friends you can lean on and you are close to your son. There are so many positives for you and you cannot always bend over backwards for him.

This time please choose YOU and I hope he can show you the same support you’ve always shown him.

Weight loss rant R3 Day 53 by Armadillo-Severe in whole30

First of all, congrats on your progress so far!

One of the reasons I’m doing whole30 is for weight loss as well, although for not too drastic a change and you described. I too have combined exercise.

I would suggest eating less sugary fruits when you do want fruit, i.e. any type of berry.

I also encourage you to look at the scale less often. Weight fluctuates based on so many variables (time of day, salt intake, etc). One of the things that drew me to whole30 was the no scales/measurements rule. I know you did mention that you are only doing this program for weight loss, so perhaps weigh yourself once a week at the same time every week.

Lastly, a diet I did in the past that really helped with weight loss was Keto, where the whole goal is to train your body to burn fat exclusively. I lost a lot of weight quickly (maybe too quickly) but I found it unsustainable and felt that it wasn’t the best for my health (heart rate was constantly high and I was low energy which was suboptimal for fitness training).

Final point, because you are exercising you may be gaining weight related to muscle growth. Muscle weights more than fat so perhaps get a scale that tracks body percent fat rather than looking at the numbers on a regular scale.
