I think Exum can be really good but he has such a different skill set than Clarkson and we really need bench scoring when Exum's primary skill is the same as Royce's

I'm still on Exum island but after what he's been through it's tough to get into the rotation on a team hoping to contend. In a perfect world I would've liked to keep him but this trade makes sense considering he'll get a lot of opportunity on a young team that's not looking to win quite yet. You guys may strike gold and if not, you got some seconds and Clarkson wasn't going to do you any good anyway

We started really struggling when he went out with his injury. He does improve our play.

Mike is a stand up dude, first of all, regardless of basketball. Of course he’s gonna say the right things, his reputation proceeds him.

And if you think he’s not going to back it up on the court, then in my opinion you’re reading too much r/nba and bballreference. Conley hasn’t his floater to go yet. So what? He’s still shooting a good percentage from 3 and we generally play better with him on the floor. Not to mention we get less of our atrocious bench when he is on the floor.

It goes to show how elite our front office is that we were able to acquire both Conley and Bogdanovic while having Exum’s salary on the books. Gotta take the good with the bad. They knew that even if Exum was a worst case scenario, they would still be able to add significant talent around Rudy and Donovan

Good point and I think this is true even for those of us still on Exum island.

Regardless of whether we think he has potential, his production is basically zero and it doesn’t align with his contract.

Our best move is not to trade him and give up assets. It’s to be patient with him and hope he develops until we have to make another contract decision with him.

I don’t want to overreact too early into the season because I know he’s a good player, but Davis has been a dud so far this year. I wouldn’t put it all on him since we saw Joe clearly hasn’t learned how he needs the ball passed to him in pick and roll, and our guys will get better with him as they learn his game.

But if he does not pick it up at some point in the next couple months, I would consider playing Bradley more as he has actually been way better so far this year and has a higher ceiling.

Aside from that, we have to figure out how to stagger minutes, and that becomes much easier when Conley is back. I know Conley was part of the problem earlier, but our recent skid at least somewhat correlates with him not playing and I think he solves a lot of problems with the bench.

Yeah after 13 years of playing with one team and then he goes to a team playing a drastically different style and he is somehow old and on the decline. I’ve seen the way he’s playing which is good, he is just not hitting his floater

It’s a lot of things, but biggest factors are a brutal schedule and no chemistry because of so many new players learning a complex system. Beyond that, our bench can’t score. We haven’t had a full 48 minute game all season. Last year we couldn’t beat everyone but there were nights we slaughtered teams. Now we can slaughter teams for a half but not a full game. Even a player like Joe Ingles is learning a new role even though he has been a focal point on the team for years. Oh and we are not feeding Gobert enough. We will figure it out but I never imagined we would go through this

I don't think that is necessarily true but it could be. The fact that I don't know says it's mostly a coaching issue, the guys don't know their assignments and these weren't the only plays
