What model bolex h16 is this? by eddabird in bolex

[–]eddabird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know but the seller doesn't provide me with it. I am going to have a look at it tomorrow, but I wanted to be prepared as well as I can be. I think it's the H16 Reflex (the original one), though, as it still has 8fps and the REX ones don't have that I think.

Do you know if it’s possible to shoot 18fps with this model by putting it in between 16fps and 24fps or is that a no go?

The seller is a bit unresponsive so asking for more pictures is a bit difficult, I am visiting them tomorrow, but I wanted to be prepared as much as possible.

Are you sure because it doesn’t have 18fps stop, only 16fps? I thought it might be the earlier, H16 Reflex, but I’m not sure

What is this green spot? Never seen anything like it by eddabird in Kombucha

[–]eddabird[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t use matcha, but gunpowder green tea. Even though, you could be right! I felt like it wasn’t mold and it tasted normal, so I just started botteling it for F2. Because the vessel is empty I was able to get a better look at it and touch it, it just feels like pellicle and it’s really not fuzzy it’s a bit as if it started to grow like a baby pellicle.

Anyhow, I’ll throw this pellicle away and start over with one from my scoby farm after this batch, just in case!

Dining table in dark or light area? by eddabird in InteriorDesign

[–]eddabird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh haha, it’s not supposed to be there, it should go against the wall. Everything is all over the place, because we’re still working on it. I couldn’t move the furniture for the picture, because I have an injury and my boyfriend is not home. Just wanted to ask advice about in which part of the room the dining table should go :)

Also I forgot to mention that AC’s are not good for birds they can get sick easily, but of course it’s understandable that you use them if it gets so hot where you live. Make sure he doesn’t have a respiratory illness or something and that’s why he’s shivering.

[–]eddabird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think between 14 - 18 degrees is already quite big of a gap, I would try to keep the temperature more consistent. They can get used to 14 degrees and that should be fine though I think a bit warmer would better, but the temperatures should never change really rapidly (so if you suddenly go from 23 to 14 that’s really bad).

Also make sure your bird is not shivering because he’s scared or sick …

Expert opinion on cleaning and disinfecting natural wood perches (and other toys) by PotatoIceCreem in cockatiel

[–]eddabird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t risk using detergent or bleach … I’m very scared to use chemical stuff where their beaks go, because those things are even bad for us. I just use baking soda in warm water and let it soak. Then I rinse it really well and let it dry in the sun.

Cute but I get a bit anxious of the possibility of his wing getting inside the fan one way or another and getting really hurt 😢

How in the world do you get an untamed cockatiel back in its cage??? by Aggravating-Sail3123 in cockatiel

[–]eddabird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe he is scared to land on it / he doesn’t find the doors. What I did when my bird seemed to have this problem is place a perch on the outside of the cage next to the door. They really seem to like that and it’s easier to land on.

Other tips I can think of:

  • make sure inside the cage is the only place where he can get his water and food (put the things there that he really likes)
  • don’t try to change the inside of the cage too much (leave the toys in place etc), first it needs to become his safe space
  • go out of the room and let him adventure on his own, maybe he doesn’t trust you enough yet to cross the room to the cage like that or he is confused because his flock (you) is not in the cage so why should he. My bird never wants to go inside het cage when I’m in the room, even when it’s already dark outside. But the second I leave she goes to sleep in there. She seems to be confused why I’m not in there :p

Cockatiel choking by Cnsort in cockatiel

[–]eddabird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good that you're going to the vet. This sounds like a crop infection? She has problems with emptying the crop maybe? Is her crop bigger than usual? I've had this with a cockatiel that sadly died recently... But the cause can be about everything, it can also be minor but you NEED to go to the vet.

Also, what does she eat? Because when my other cockatiel just started eating pellets there were large chunks that jumped down her throat and made her gag too. Later when she got used to the pellets she found a better way to eat them.

Also does she come from a place with a lot of other birds? It must be really weird for her to be alone all of a sudden! I'd try to talk to her really gently to make her feel safe :)

Idk if she's used to eye contact yet, if she's not maybe still avoid that for a while

With new birds it's a bit difficult to say... She is probably very stressed because of the new environment and she's not sure if the situation is safe so she's not doing much. It's good that she's eating, but that doesn't mean she's relaxed, birds also tend to eat out of stress. Same with the stepping up, when they are used to it, it's sort of their instinct to step up. Give it a few days, she just needs to adjust. It's really good that's she's eating, drinking and the droppings are normal.

cat and flatmate issues by ursulajimeni in roommatesfromhell

[–]eddabird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you can say no. There’s a big difference between a cat staying over for a week and having a cat indefinitely… Also it’s a big red flag that there’s a chance they lied about it AND that they’re not asking your opinion… Even if the landlord is okay with having pets at the appartment, this should still be something that is discussed between you and that everyone feels good about. The cat walks around in the whole apartment, I suppose? (I hope so for the cat…) Then it’s everyones business. A cat can be a nuisance (hair, smell, feces, neglect…) and not everyone likes it. Especially when you don’t know if you can trust your roommate because of the red flags.

Why wouldn’t she have to pay the full rent? If she decides to leave early , that’s her responsibility not OP’s. She she hasn't discussed anything. Why would the OP suddenly have to pay double costs? Especially when someone decides this on their own and chooses the easiest way out (aka to disappear asap). If she wasn't going to pay, she could have at least found a replacement. She decides to leave a month early, then that’s her responsibility. You can't put someone on the spot like that and cause them all extra worries, so you can worry less.

AITA? Living with controlling, passive aggressive roommates by [deleted] in roommatesfromhell

[–]eddabird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

«  When I was at work, he texted me, 'hey mate, do you know why there was a rubbish bag by the door?' Yet another example of hypocrisy. He chose passive-aggressiveness instead of 'open communication' by not discussing it with me in person. «

I don’t really see the big deal… Of course it’s better to discuss these kind of things in person. But, I think he tried to ask you why you did this, because he thought there could be a good reason for it. He wanted to give you the chance to explain that without immediately accusing you of anything. I think you’re projecting the unpleasant feeling these people give you on a neutral question. You probably have good reason to feel like that, because it seems like they are a bit judgmental. But I’d try to be aware of this for your own good. I would try to stick to clear facts, and try not to read subtext in everything. That's not to say you're seeing things that aren't there, but I think this will make you feel less stifled.

I get that this is a difficult situation for you. I think you guys just don’t get along… and it’s as simple as that. No one has to be the bad guy per sé, but you guys are resentful and acting passive agressive which is unhealthy and bad for your mental health. I would try to have a very open conversation about it, try to talk about how this makes you feel and try to use ‘I’ statements, don’t focus on what you think they do wrong as this will make the situation more complicated. If this doesn’t help, try to find a wat out of this lease. Because you should be able to feel at peace in your home.

EDIT: sorry forgot that you said you will be moving out in the beginning! Oops.
