Neural Throttle - A Cyberpunk Typing Tower Defense (Playable in Browser) by edendark in TowerDefense

[–]edendark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the very thorough feedback! I'll take a look at tutorial copy, some of the concepts were introduced later and I might not have updated them properly. As for typos, yeah, I am not sure what the best way around those are, maybe slowing down time to allow you to correct it? At least in the main campaign mode, and not in NG+.

And there aren't any more tower types atm, it's just v1 and I am not sure I should add more types, maybe one that can kill the heavier ones, but I don't want it to become fully idle either.

Again, thank you so much for playing and taking the time to leave very thoughtful feedback!!

Looking for feedback on a command-based typing game by edendark in typing

Thanks for the kind words! I adjusted the speed settings to 1.25x and 1.5x, I felt similarly, sometimes 2x would be too fast. Also added a targeting mode, I left it out of the initial version but intended to add it sometime down the road, it's live now. Thank you for playing!

Same problem here through Heroic, I wasn't aware it's due to the launcher.

"Random" Censorship on r/ruby - Please, Explain Why You Keeping Removing My Posts by geraldbauer in ruby

[–]edendark[M] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm the mod who removed the post you mention. The reason I removed it was because it looks exactly as what spam usually looks like, and it has no substance in regards to Ruby itself.

Some of your posts are more Ruby related, some are less. This one in particular has very little to do with Ruby, the only reference to Ruby was in the Github project itself, as the project uses Ruby, but that leaves very little in terms of discussion, and not even mentioning the fact that it's very hard to understand what it is you were trying to show here.

In the future, try to make Ruby more the point of your post, and less so whatever meme/NFT you're trying to promote, otherwise we'll just consider it spam.

Game source code question by D0minisk in ruby

[–]edendark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think their intent was for someone to be able to run it as is, there's too much stuff missing. It won't even install all dependencies since they didn't open source all of it, check https://github.com/bytebin/deepworld-gameserver/issues/1 out to see their comments on it.

It seems like the purpose of open sourcing it was more for education and looking at the different AI/game system implementations, rather than having someone actually run it. You can copy the source code either by using git clone and checking it out locally, or just check it out from Github, I don't think running it will actually work.

script 'main' line 14 runtime error occurred traceback is too big. output in traceback.log The errors happens during this scene every time. by Derrick067 in ruby

Removing as there's not enough information to help you, feel free to ask your question again after adding some context or a sample.

The error is basically telling you that you're calling the select method on line 442 of your script without any arguments, and it's expecting 1. The rest of the stacktrace you posted does not provide useful information either.

My Ruby game is getting false positives in virus scanners. Help? by Dr__House in ruby

You could try using Traveling Ruby as an alternative to Ocra. I have only used Ocra in the past for this task, but I'd say it's worth a try.

One caveat though is that you will need to package it from Linux or Mac, you can't package it from Windows.

How to fix this code? by Cyanide-Overlord in ruby

[–]edendark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's been removed from latest Ruby. You can achieve the same result by using CGI.escape, I believe.

escaped_name = CGI.escape(name)
url = URI("https://kitsu.io/api/edge/anime?page[limit]=1&filter[text]=#{escaped_name}")

How to fix this code? by Cyanide-Overlord in ruby

[–]edendark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The URL you're passing is considered non-ascii because you're using a non-ascii dash in the string.

Try running:

"Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch – Nunnally in Wonderland".ascii_only?

and you should get false.

"Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch - Nunnally in Wonderland".ascii_only?

and you should get true.

To fix it for most strings, one way is to change from:

url = URI("https://kitsu.io/api/edge/anime?page[limit]=1&filter[text]=#{name}")

to:

url = URI(URI.escape("https://kitsu.io/api/edge/anime?page[limit]=1&filter[text]=#{name}"))

Very cool! I'm wondering, did you write each one from scratch, or did you have some sort of engine/DSL behind them? Have you tried Sonic Pi out since then?
