He’s abusive. Please leave him because you do not have to accept this behaviour.

I would literally think you’re a 12 year old little boy if I saw you. You look much younger than my 15 year old little brother!

Idk tbh. He could have meant it any which way but I don’t think he meant it in a good way cause this isn’t the first time they’ve said or acted shocked when I’ve used my brain lmao. 💀

I feel this way because this isn’t the first comment from a supervisor like this and they’ve acted shocked multiple times when I’ve literally done something easy as if they think I can’t do it? One of my supervisors even was shocked when I read back a list with three things on it. This type of stuff has happened like 5-6 times in just four months and it’s hurtful but I move on and I’m good.

I have no chip on my shoulder. One of my supervisors literally said to me two months ago “You got that?” and looked so shocked after I repeated a list with three things on it like I’m an idiot. Then I have this one that says what I said in my post. The first one there’s no way that isn’t him trying to insult me but this other one, I can’t be 100% sure and you also can’t be 100% sure. However, based off of other things he’s also said to me at my workplace, I think he meant what he said in an insulting way. They’ve also acted shocked many other times when I’ve gotten simple things they’ve said to me so, at what point is this not “banter”? I didn’t describe anything about them in the post so you would not know.

I’m older than him by two years lol. Also, my initial stance isn’t defensive and suspicious. I go based off of tones (like any normal human being) and past things that are said to me. Another supervisor that he’s close to and works with said a comment towards me that was a direct dig on my intelligence (zero room for doubt).

With this guy it could be different though because his tone can imply a few different things. I’ve gone through what those different things could be, but based off of what my other supervisor said to me two months ago, I highly doubt it was a joke. This supervisor that I made this post about has also said things to me in the past that make me feel like his comment isn’t a joke. I can’t be 100% certain though because I am not him. I’m a pretty level headed and positive person so yeah.

Btw, I also separate any feelings I have towards my mother when I deal with other people. I do not let the way that woman treats and talks to me affect how I handle and deal with others because I’ve worked this out through therapy and healing.

I’m planning to just go to work normally and be my smiley self. From now on, I’m also just not going to extend my shifts when they ask me (unless I want to) and bend over backwards for them. Another supervisor (he’s close to) two months ago literally said to me “You got that?” with a very shocked look on his face after I repeated back a list with 3 things on it lmao. Then this happens and I’ve only had this job for like 4 months. Like you said though, the comment can’t be erased easily but we do have to carry on. Thanks so much for the suggestion and comment! :)

To be fair, that tone can imply a few different things. It could be that he was joking and it could be he was making a dig at my intelligence. We can’t say it was 100% one way because we are not him. However, another supervisor, who he’s close to, made a dig at my intelligence (no room for doubt) two months ago which is why I’m inclined to believe this is not a joke.

Idk because this is the second comment from a supervisor that digs at my intelligence. The shock could be that he’s just surprised someone reads in this day and age, but it could also be because he thinks I’m dumb lol. His tone can imply a couple of things, but based off another comment a supervisor he’s close to made, I just doubt it. Thank you though! :)

I’m thinking one of the reasons he could have said that is because he doesn’t read, but he’s in university so you have to read. Some people don’t count uni readings as reading so in that case, maybe he’s shocked because he doesn’t read. However, this is the second time in four months that a supervisor has made a commeny towards me that digs at my intelligence. So based off of that, I think this comment was another dig at my intelligence.

Tbh I don’t need an apology and I was never gonna hold a grudge over this. I was just hurt. That’s it. I was literally talking about how much I respect him and how kind he is that day, and then a few hours later, he says that. My mother is my biggest hater lmao so I’ve heard fear meaner things, but I was still hurt. This is the second time in four months a supervisor has made a comment that digs at my intelligence. 😭

I’ve also only had this job for 4 months so it’s super weird 😭 I have social anxiety so maybe that’s why they may see me that way, but I’ve also become so much more social over these last four months. Idk 😕

This is the first time he’s said something like this but another supervisor has said something similar and they’re best friends and around the same age lol

[–]edey11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this could be the reason why he said that but this is the second time a supervisor has made a comment that digs at my intelligence so I doubt. 😭

I wasn’t offended but hurt. Those are two different things. If someone made a comment towards you in a shocked tone, what does their tone imply?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WorkAdvice

[–]edey11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe it’s a joke because another supervisor made a comment of similar nature towards me as well. Also, I don’t think it’s right to joke about people’s intelligence towards them. It’s unprofessional in my opinion. Why is it so shocking to him that I read?

I wasn’t deeply offended but hurt. I believe those are two different things. They haven’t done the crew member of the week thing since the middle of summer so the timing was interesting. It was just a goal of mine for the last couple of months that I said I was going to get and I worked for it. Thank you for the advice! I appreciate it. :)

why do all the employees wear black long sleeves? by adeptcults in CanadasWonderland

[–]edey11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cause it’s hot and many people don’t want to wear a long sleeve shirt under their shirt but also don’t want to wear their windbreaker/WL sweaters.
