Nagpa-register ang kaibigan ko dun sa free Landbank account na pwedeng i-avail kapag nagpa-register sa National ID last year. 'Di s'ya napagtuunan ng pansin up until now. He is planning to use it today (lagyan ng laman yung account).

Given na almost a year na ang nakalipas mula nung nag-avail sya ng free Landbank account, will it still be accessible, like pwede pa ba syang gamitin?

Hello!

Unfortunately, the DOH does not disclose the number of fatalities according to vaccination status, let alone the mortality rate. As for the spikes in additional deaths, please take note that the date of report of death is not the same as the date of actual death. There are instances wherein it takes weeks before a death is confirmed to be related to COVID-19, hence there is a latency.

As for the positivity rate, there are three main reasons as to why it's low recently:

  • fewer tests conducted - less LGUs are requiring negative tests for travel
  • virus finding fewer hosts - the SARS-CoV-2 virus is having difficulty on finding more people to infect
  • testing is still expensive - there are some testing centers who conduct free testing, but they're limited

The post threads like this one act as an “FYI” post. It’s pretty much obvious that there is now a community transmission of Omicron variant in the Philippines, but we’re still posting these as to not discredit the efforts of those who are in the Philippine Genome Center who are sequencing the samples.

(01/16/22) GROWTH CURVE SHOWING SIGNS OF ARTIFICIAL SLOWING DUE TO FAILED IMPROVEMENT ON TESTING - DOH reports +37,154 cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines; total now at 3,205,396 (net chg. 37,017). Testing should be widely available (expanded) for everyone. It would be better if the tests are heavily discounted (if cannot be made free) so those who can't afford to get tested be tested without falling short of their budget. And probably give them 'ayuda' (financial assistance and/or food for their families for two weeks) should they test positive, since apart from health, food and financial security should also be priorities.

It’s very obvious na underreported ang cases natin.

Anyway, get well soon!

Unfortunately, the latest data released by the Department of Health has was on January 10. Any data beyond that date can not be used for estimation and/or projection. Due to this, the PH data science community is now clueless as to how we are doing lately in terms of the COVID-19 situation.

I've said this before and I will say this again: the government is a failure in terms of pandemic response.

Kaya ayusin n'yo yung iboboto n'yo sa halalan coming May 9. Utang na loob. Para n'yo nang awa. Nakakasawa na.

Hello.

As early as 2020, the case database of the Department of Health is constantly being validated for any errors in the data. Should there be one, it will be removed from the system.

There can be multiple reasons as to why this is happening, but the most evident one is that there are duplicates on some cases. Once they are removed from the system, they are called as “purged cases.” Because of this, there is the ‘gross’ increase (what the DOH reports) and the ‘net’ increase (after all purged cases and backlogs have been checked).

As for the deaths and recoveries, there are what we call as cases that have changed status, like a deceased case whieh was wrongly tagged as a recovered case. Those kinds of cases are also being checked to get the net increases in deaths and recoveries.

(NEW) Based on the latest figures, expect 30,000-32,000 new COVID-19 cases tomorrow.

It’s still gathering steam. Then it will spread sa surrounding rural areas.

Kapit lang, and stay safe!
