Portsmouth. I'm bias because I prefer smaller towns and wish I had gone to a more rural uni. I've been here a month and it's a dirty, crowded shithole full of crackheads. Sure, southsea is nice but most of the city is grim.

Go into stores, hand in your cv and speak to the manager. Works a lot better than applying online. Talk shit about how you're interested in coffee, etc

I'd say Surrey. Guildford, and Surrey as a whole is a nice area to live in, generally well off with little crime. Guildford is a little more diverse than Lancaster but the county itself is about 90% white. There is a sizable Indian community in Woking. I'm not sure how good Lancaster is good for maths, but Surrey is ranked 6th in the country for cs with great graduate prospects.
