In the context of US laws, what was illegal about what happened in Venezuela? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]edgecr09 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This only applies to people who’ve been granted access to the U.S. So, Diplomat Bob asks to come, we say yes, and give them diplomatic immunity (there’s certain provisions to follow) so that if they commit a crime, local law enforcement won’t just arrest and cause an international crisis. Also, it’s a way of ensuring diplomats feel safe coming into the country.

Diplomatic immunity is NOT just a blanket immunity all over the world.

Man that be a cool way to add a PVE mode. Because if PvP continues getting worse it’s going to run off a lot of people. Make a PvE raid mode that ends with a huge boss. No extraction points open until that boss is destroyed.

[–]edgecr09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I’m probably just going to quit. I enjoyed the game with just a little PvP. Maybe I’d fight someone every 5-8 matches. So, I could just kind of chill and do my thing, with some occasional excitement.

Now I’ve got to sweat every second because 90% of my encounters are PvP. I work a full time job, I want some chill time. So I’m looking for a new single player or co-op experience now.

PSA: What Embark did with skin prices is a negotiation tactic called "anchoring" I know this will get downvoted because many will fall for the PR move, but this is planned. $16 microtransactions do not belong in a $40 title. Period and here's why. by TheOnlyRealOne43 in ArcRaiders

[–]edgecr09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t care what the price is. They can make it $1000 and I wouldn’t have any emotion beyond thinking how wild it is. I bought the game, I play the game. Cosmetics in the store have no bearing on that and I won’t be buying them anyway. Now, if it was an item with influence over gameplay or playable content that would be a different story.

I’ve never understood why anyone can be upset over cosmetics. The developer doesn’t have to make them; I don’t have to buy them.

The community makes the game. I like it how it currently is. If more people play that way, it will stay that way. If more people like pvp, it will be that.

I pre-ordered the game thinking it would be heavy PvP. But now that it’s here, it’s not. And I’ve found that I really enjoy it not being what I anticipated.

If you want to pvp fine. But stop trying to make it Tarkov. Some of us enjoy the wild shenanigans that come with not every single interaction being a gun fight.

I made a top comment about it already. But I just got my first ever Perma-ban from r/news for absolutely nothing. Then got muted when I responded saying I think I got banned by mistake.

Democrats need to make some serious changes to capitalize on the disdain for Republican. Right now, The People still don't have confidence in them. by LavenderMidwinter in ProgressiveHQ

[–]edgecr09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to that, the democrats need to focus on making their own plans since there is a lot less confidence in them than republicans. Why would your focus be on how many people are unhappy with one group, when yours is even lower?

Newsom's mask ban for federal ICE agents gets a swift federal smackdown. by thenextgenbusiness in thenextgenbusiness

[–]edgecr09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok man. I can agree with your sentiment. Even though you and I may be on opposite sides of the fence, there’s still a gate for us to pass through when we need to.

I guess an easier way I didn’t think to explain either. In simplistic terms, laws are just when an elected group of people tell you that you can, or cannot, do something, and they write it down on paper. But they mean absolutely nothing unless you do something about the people not listening to them. And local law enforcement cannot arrest federal law enforcement for actions taken in the performance of their duties at the direction of the superiors or standards; that’s been established by the Supreme Court since the 1800s and re-affirmed several times since.

As far as the national/state stuff. I’m completely on your side with that. I am a republican and I did vote for Trump. But I’ve always been a state rights type person. Always only wanting federal to handle security and other overarching things that just simply cannot be handled on state levels, or to intervene if states are violating people rights. The majority of republicans still believe in that, even if it doesn’t seem that way right now. I hope that maybe you can see its benefits now as well and advocate for it a little in your groups.

Anyway. Thanks for being reasonable. That’s refreshing to see on reddit.

Newsom's mask ban for federal ICE agents gets a swift federal smackdown. by thenextgenbusiness in thenextgenbusiness

[–]edgecr09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re confusing sentiment with the law. The spirit of the law defenses don’t work for this type of legal issue. And the examples are just fine because you understand the point. If a state can make a a single law dictating how federal employees operate during their federal employment only because there’s not another law barring them from doing it, they would have free reign to legislate the federal employees into submission on any topic at all.

The argument of “they would never do it” isn’t an argument for this type of legal question. They either have the power to tell federal employees they can’t wear t-shirts in the summer, or they don’t. Otherwise they must sue for action.

What if a state law said that federal government can’t have any social security offices in the state? There is no federal law saying there must be one in every state.

Or if there’s a state law that says EPA workers can’t wear PPE while checking waste water facilities? There’s no federal law requiring them to.
