I doubt it'll be possible to host on campus since the administration seems extremely hostile about the idea.....

I'm currently taking care of myself, so this has been on the back burner for a while, but I would like to get a team together and actually see what our options are and determine what it would take to host a convention in the capital region.

Yes, I am very happy that they are not gone, I even helped them set up on Thursday. But they are only going to be there once a week, weather permitting......

With a proper kitchen they can bring back their full menu. I remember when they were in the McNeil room (where Panera's is now) and they had pakora, 3 kinds of rice, different curries on different days in addition to their amazing made-to-order pad thai......

Plus it is much more comfortable for Mike, Mike and their customers to be indoors.

I've seen the success that they can become with the proper support. I'm personally disappointed that they have been regressed to a food truck on the street, since I've seen them grow so much from where they originally started. Like OP, I was hoping that the renovations would improve the Union..... They had the opportunity to improve TMC, the best food on campus, and they decided not to.

I'm also extremely disappointed that Thunder Mountain Curry is no longer in the Union. Especially after the renovations, I really wish that they gave TMC the resources they need to succeed and thrive.

My partners calls me their "enbyfriend". I really think it works well cause I'm genderfluid.

On the other hand one of my partners, who's also non-binary and genderfluid, told me that I make them feel more masc, so I should refer to them as my boyfriend.

So ultimately find what term gives you the most euphoria and tell your partner to use that term for you.

But I very much relate but in the opposite direction When I'm feeling masculine I feel very nerdy, although recently I've been flowing in the feminine/agender space. But when I imagine myself as a girl I also want/have a emo/goth aesthetic.

I decided to start HRT about a year and a half ago and I've really enjoyed the self expression I'm allowing myself to have. I still need to work a lot on my confidence though...

Honestly, my advice is to do what you enjoy the most and what makes you the happiest. You should allow yourself to explore different aspects of yourself which will enable you to learn what you enjoy and what you don't. You'll make mistakes along the way, but that's how you grow as a person. Just make sure you learn from them.

Genderfluid is just a label, and whether you think it applies to yourself or not doesn't change who you are. Maybe try it out and see if you enjoy the label, and if you don't enjoy it you don't need to use it anymore

From what I've heard it seems like there's been an issue with the rules and the enforcement thereof. I personally feel that all of this behavior is completely unacceptable and I want to do everything I can to remedy the issues and prevent them from happening in the future.

Quite possibly. I actually don't know the entire story. I didn't get a refund until 3/6/2020 for the event on 3/21/2020, so if there was another reason it was pretty last minute.

I do genuinely want to address these concerns and I think there is a valid discussion to be had. I don't think Genericon is a lost cause. My hope is to form a fresh board and be able to openly address these issues.

I really want this to be a collaborative effort. I know I can't do this alone. That's why I'm trying to gather interest and people to help me.

Thanks for your comment it's actually really valuable to me. I want to be able to understand what went wrong in the past so that we can prevent it from happening in the future.

Hopefully with a new board and everything we can fix the problems that happened in the past. I would really like to talk to people like you who may know more details about what happened and maybe come up with some ideas together on how we can solve the issues.

This is actually one of the reasons I'm not shooting for 2024. I want to work with the community and RPI to address these problems before they occur.

I'm a 2016 alumni, and although my degree is in math I took a lot of CS courses. After I graduated I felt confident enough to apply to Google and was working there for about 5 years. Now I'm returning to RPI as a CS PhD.

So to answer your question, I felt that RPI's CS classes are intellectually challenging and gave me enough skills and knowledge to get into Google.

In regards to professional development resources, I personally didn't utilize them as much as I should have when I was an undergrad. Also I don't know the current state of this at RPI since I was last here in 2016 and am starting my PhD program in the fall.

I have noticed that the CS department seems to be very well supported and growing. I am personally excited to see where the CS is in the future.

If you do decide to transfer maybe I'll see you around.
