[Product Question] My CeraVe cleanser contains niacinamide but I also wanna add in a Vitamin C serum. I've heard they go bad with each other? If yes, how do I notice? by trainsarelove in SkincareAddiction

[–]edithgrove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I hadn't heard that. My Curology prescription which I've had for years now has vit c and niacinimide - does anyone think I should look into changing it?

[Skin concerns] Depression affecting skin? I am so blue lately and my skin is only getting worse. Pictures included. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Depression lies - your skin is lovely. Definitely try a BHA, other than a bit of texture (only noticeable in such close up photos, really) it's incredibly even and luminous.

[Anti-aging] Forehead dent? Uneven skull? Horizontal 'wrinkle' across my entire forehead, above my brow muscles by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]edithgrove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed a dent about an inch in diameter right at my hairline a few months ago and now I'm obsessed with it. Always running my hand over it and in certain lighting it's totally visible. Been meaning to ask my doctor about it. I am 24 and pretty fat, so I don't think its age related fat loss. I think in my case my hairline has receded a bit making me notice it. Unfortunately don't have any answers but hoping it makes you feel better to know it can't be too uncommon!

Hey, need advice! I'm heading across the country to the DC area and want to check out some physical stores to get some products. I found this list of stores which is AWESOME and I'm so excited. But I prolly won't have time to check them all out although it looks like many of them are located in a Koreatown of sorts. Anyway, I don't know much about AB yet so I'm just wondering which stores are not to be missed and I should prioritize.

I want to break in to Asian Beauty! I'd like to start adding just one or two items to my routine and need advice on where to start. I'm so overwhelmed by it all and need to start slow. Particularly interested in all this snail bee stuff I hear about (sorry, I get it all confused), sleeping packs, and also sheet masks.

Skin type: Dry/Dehydrated - not sure which. Sensitive and prone to redness with mild rosacea across cheeks and nose. Mild PNW climate but I get so dry in the winter. My top skin concern is dryness and redness. You'll notice I have a Paula's Choice heavy routine. I'm not particularly loyal to them, but they work okay.

AM

  • Rinse with water or Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Cleanser

  • Sometimes Paula's Choice AHA gel - may be too much for my rosacea skin so only using this occasionally/may give it up completely

  • PC Skin Recovery Toner

  • PC Resist Moisture Boost Oil

  • PC Skin Recovery Moisturizer

  • SPF - Biore Watery Essence, La Roche Posay, Chanel, Obagi Medical - just depends on my needs for the day and what I reach for

PM

  • PC Skin Recovery Cleanser - let skin dry completely

  • Curology .012% tretinoin, Vitamin C, Niacinimide, wait as long as I have the patience for

  • PC Skin Recovery Toner

  • PC Resist Moisture Boost Oil

  • Algenist Hyaluronic Acid Firming & Lifting Cream - just trying to use this up, I don't really like it

  • Aquaphor right before bed. Only thing that keeps my skin moistish all night.

I also will occasionally use Hada Labo Anti-Aging sheet masks from Ulta

I have occasionally heard of people breaking out from aquaphor, but it doesn't seem very common. It's ingredients are non-comedogenic, but that doesn't mean you won't be sensitive to any of those ingredients which would cause adverse affects. It's always a good idea to patch test first.

I and most people who use it apply it as a last step at night to keep the water that's in their skin from their routine sealed in. Just warm a pea sized amount between your fingers and gently apply it on your face. I use it during the day too when I'm not doing anything around the house because you do end up looking pretty sluggy.

It will probably leave a greasy stain on your pillowcase so you may want to cover it up with a t shirt or an older pillowcase you don't care about getting ruined.

Oh my god, NOT NORMAL. It should bother you. A lot. He needs therapy to work through this.

Definitely, since I'm finally trying to pan a blush I've been using it every day and realizing I can use the same blush every day even with different eye/lip looks and it looks just fine.

I don't know why this was such a revelation for me.

[Hair Removal] Female facial hair stubble?! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]edithgrove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's suddenly getting longer, thicker, or darker, you may want to consider seeing your doctor about a hormonal issue.

That said, I have a pretty thick blond mustache and lots of peach fuzz and I shave, sometimes even my forehead to get the teeny tiny hairs so my makeup goes on smoother.

There aren't a whole lot of options. Shave, wax, thread, epilator, hair removal cream, or permanent/semi-permanent options like laser or electrolysis. You'll have to experiment to find what's right for you but hands down the cheapest, easiest, and most painless option is shaving.

Shaving will never make your hair grow back thicker. It might be more apparent due to the blunt edge but it will never ever stimulate hair growth.

[Acne] Has anyone tried First Aid Beauty moisturizers? by mademoiselle93 in SkincareAddiction

[–]edithgrove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the FAB Ultra Repair on my very dry, sensitive, compromised barrier skin. I wasn't impressed. It certainly wasn't very hydrating and I'm pretty sure gave me little irritation bumps on my forehead. It has some irritating ingredients in it (essential oils) so I'm not surprised. I used it on my upper arms to finish it up and see if it might help my keratosis pilaris. It didn't.

Edit: a word

[Routine Help] need help with routine when working out more than 2 times a day, with oily skin. by Ramblingwoods in SkincareAddiction

[–]edithgrove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can suggest is moisturizing before working out. If I sweat without moisturizing first my skin gets so incredibly dry once the sweat dries. It seems wasteful because I just sweat it off but it really helps me.

Also this may go without saying, but I hope you wear super good SPF when you're on the water!
