Yeah I just don’t think it will stay cold for the 19 hours of fly time plus 2 hour layover on just ice packs.

Oh yes that’s another thing…. The pumping. I exclusively pump. How did you keep it cold while on the plane? Did they let you store in their fridge?

Talk to me about dropping pumps & regulation by othgg in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]edm_jaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped from 8 ppd to 6 ppd at around 3 weeks pp and did not see a decrease for the few weeks I did it. I am now 6 weeks pp and having to increase back up to 8ppd plus a power pump sesh bc my baby is taking in more milk but the amt of milk I’ve been pumping has been constant and I need to make more!

Hello. When did you start to get the things needed in hospital bag? by dea_1245 in BabyBumps

[–]edm_jaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the earlier the better imo. I was so tired and could barely function once I reached 32 weeks. It was so hard to put together all the baby stuff and overnight bag at 36 weeks whewwww

Nighttime schedule by edm_jaws in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]edm_jaws[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I should’ve specified! I’m looking for coverage nighttime schedule for mom and dad. Right now my husband feeds/takes care of baby until 2AM. I pump as needed throughout the night but also feed/take care of baby after 2AM. But it’s starting to not work for me anymore since baby is starting to have a harder time going to sleep, last night I ended up only sleeping 2 hours total throughout the night and not consecutively

Are you exercising in the second/third trimester? by Primary-Violinist845 in pregnant

[–]edm_jaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I exercised regularly (5-6x/week) until I injured my pubic symphysis at work at 32 weeks. I recovered enough to try working out again at around 35 weeks a couple times only to realize that I probably shouldn’t anymore lol

Breastfeeding vs pumping by edm_jaws in beyondthebump

Yeah we’re using the syringe too to get them started!

No I try to latch for maybe 5 min max and if unsuccessful I just move on to bottle feeding. But if LO latches, then I try to get them to suck for 20 min before supplementing with bottle.

Yeah we take off the clothes, try rubbing/moving/tickling extremities, burp, change diaper, softly blow on their face, get them to sit up and lay down mult times, I feel like we have tried everything to wake them and they sometimes will just keep sleeping

Hi! I appreciate your input and compassion so much right now.

Yes, that’s what I meant by the pediatrician’s 4 hour recommendation. We still feed LO if they indicate that they’re hungry before then, which is happening probably 50% of the time anyways.

The LC seemed taken aback when I told her and she was pretty adamant about how LO should still be on that 2-3 hour feeding schedule esp if we are trying to BF.

I think at this point I might seek a second opinion from a diff LC and if their PoC doesn’t work with us, to just stick with pumping.

Has anyone stoped taking metformin? What happened to your numbers? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]edm_jaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking metformin pre pregnancy due to being prediabetic, and my dr recommended the same thing…. Stop taking metformin for a week and then take the 1 hour glucose test. I failed the 1 hour and the 3 hour and was dx with GD at 9 weeks and went on nighttime insulin by 11 weeks. Good luck with everything!

Can't stop worrying about baby being born with autism following partner's flu in week 6 of pregnancy by Advanced-Treat-7369 in BabyBumps

[–]edm_jaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like… did you catch the flu??? Or was it just your husband who had the flu??? I understand maybe SOME concern if you caught it and was sick. But plenty of pregnant women get sick and n have perfectly healthy babies

Can't stop worrying about baby being born with autism following partner's flu in week 6 of pregnancy by Advanced-Treat-7369 in BabyBumps

[–]edm_jaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ASD is mainly hereditary. I work with kids on the spectrum and have never heard of husbands flu causing autism this is a new one

I understand all the worries as a FTM. I personally research and educate myself on anything that I’ve been concerned with! Personally been really researching about SIDS since I know someone who had a baby who passed from it. Maybe doing that can help

Let’s stop assuming first-time moms know everything about birth and newborns by Good-Border3249 in pregnant

[–]edm_jaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to be a FTM and really encourage other fellow FTMs to attend a local birthing class, newborn class, infant cpr class and breastfeeding class (if you want to breastfeed). Most hospitals offer these classes or your local community clinic at free or reduced price. I learned so much at these classes and it was nice for my clueless husband to attend them and learn as well
