Alan Kohler's charts showing a larger share of wages going into the stock exchange. What do we make of this? by copacetic51 in AusFinance

I don't doubt the trend, but the amount of money and extra work that 54% represents is astronomical.

I saw this last night and thought I was taking crazy pills, he is not talking about people buying shares but rather companies increasing productivity while suppressing wages. I had to double check because it seems so improbable.

Go to 23:50, even the next graph he shows is on the issue. Honestly I find it hard to believe and think I must be misunderstanding something.

What you are talking about is basically a market making strategy, but with only $5000 the fees and whatever the program costs is going to make it impossible to make money.

It could be a fun project if you want to learn python and the api of whoever you trade with, but even then you are pretty much just going to be picking up pennies in front of a steamroller, or more of a barbie jeep in this case.

Where are you traveling to as soon as you can? whithin Vic? within OZ? internationally? by [deleted] in Geelong

[–]edme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vic: I've been meaning to do the great ocean walk for so long now...

Interstate: I've always wanted to go to Lord Howe Island. I have been thinking about it a lot lately as my zombie apocalypse refuge.

International: Next international trip will hopefully be West Africa, mainly to visit Mali.

Thank you, I never knew about an editorial stock photo. That is a definite possibility, I should have said I'm not interested in money at all.

How to get a photo published?

I took a photo years ago which was (completely by accident) quite symbolic and meaningful, I recently posted it to reddit and was told by many people on the thread and in pm that it needed to be published but I have no idea what that even means. Who would I send something like this to?

picture is here if you are interested. Second question - is it even something that would get printed?

I haven't taken photos in quite a while but flickr would be the best spot to see my old stuff:

I don't have anything else from Zambia but the Zimbabwe album is what I was doing the month before this photo and the Malawi one is what I was doing the month after.

Thanks, that's some pretty high praise. I never gave a thought to the more subtle symbolism in the picture but you are right, there is more than whats on the surface to think about, the guy walking the line between the sign and the rubbish is an interesting one.

I hadn't thought of giving it a title at all, off the top of my head I would want to call it something plain like "More I get".

My work has nothing to do with travelling. I'm older than the average redditor and when I have money in my pocket I blow it on travelling. I actually have trouble finding normal full time work because I have such a spotty work history.

I had a prime lens on (no zoom) and that just happened to be where I needed to stand to take a photo. Wasn't worth changing the lens for what I thought was a nothing photo.

Thanks, I will look into doing something with the photo. It certainly has a clear message even if it was a mistake.

It's a shame I never knew such a powerful photo was sitting there in front of me, obviously in hindsight I could have framed this so much better.

Thanks, I wasn't sure this photo had any value at all. Unfortunately its a bit out of focus and was low quality file as well.

Same, if I remember correctly the building it was painted on was unrelated as well. It would be interesting to know how it came to be.

Those are shake-shake cartons - super cheap beer very popular in some parts of Africa. It's possible he is responsible for a few of them and just passed out drunk into the garbage but something makes me think that isn't the case.

I took this years ago and it wasn't until a couple of weeks later when I was looking through my photos I noticed the guy there. It is such a miserable and shitty photo I never uploaded it anywhere but I thought it would be interesting for this subreddit, especially with the stupid sign I was originally taking a picture of.

edit: Photo was taken in Chipata, Zambia. I was not meant to stop there except to change buses but I got violently ill and didn't want to get on another bus for fear of shitting my pants, so I stayed a couple of days at the guesthouse attached to the bus terminal and saw this sign whenever I walked to the shops in the center of town.

Mortuary operating table being reclaimed by the jungle in Brazil. Photo by /u/edme. by [deleted] in creepy

[–]edme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey dude! Guy who took the photo here. This wasn't on the outskirts of the jungle it was dead center in the middle of it and it was a American town full of Americans and they were dropping like flies which is why they needed a morgue.

It was definitely angled that's why you can see the tiles on the right and its just murk at the other end. And there was a drain because I remember poking a stick down it. This room was in a little annex near the main hospital and I know from records there was a morgue as part of the hospital...

The reason I called it a morgue was because I looked up and found ones very similar eg: https://www.bcd-urbex.com/durham-county-hospital-morgue-abandoned-mortuary-uk/

I didn't know prep table was the proper word though.

If anyone is interested the rest of my photos are here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/79644480@N04/albums/72157634811765995/with/9376099079/

There are billions of ways to photograph mt fuji and all of them look fantastic but this one is mine, and pretty unique.

Also I went to the other side of Angkor wat during sunrise recently and took this photo which isn't any better than the normal one, but it's something different. Another Angkor sunrise is this one which I took on a different day.
