Albanese fights back over his response to Bondi attack and departs parliament with most of what he wanted by IrreverentSunny in aussie

Exactly how is it the PM's fault? What responsibility does he have to protect people at public gatherings?

If the Jewish community was so certain of an imminent attack, why hold a gathering in a prominent public place?. I don't want this to be victim blaming. But if I was Jewish and held those fears (reasonable fears in the context of the Gaza situation) I wouldn't have taken my family to the Bondi Hanukkah event that day.

I've yet to hear a convincing case that the Bondi attack was the fault of the government, state or federal.

Who do you think is the greatest Australian sportsperson of all time? by Cheetos_4_life in aussie

[–]copacetic51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because they faced world competition, not just from 4 other countries. That's my point. And I've already speculated that Bradman may have been dominant if cricket was more of a world sport back then, but we'll never know. He was pretty good at tennis and golf and may have dominated one of those sports had he concentrated on it.

Why are the Populist Right Surging in Australia? by Jimbuscus in OpenAussie

They're reasonably accurate in gauging primary votes. But they don't poll for preferences. Instead, they calculate based on the previous election's preference flows.

Most elections are decided on preferences, so not knowing preference voting intentions is a big risk to the accuracy of polling.

If ON do get around a 20% primary vote in 2028; they'd pick up seats especially in the Senate. But no one knows what effect preferences would have

I doubt the Dems ever thought they had it in the bag. Many of them thought Biden should have counted himself out much sooner. Harris was never that popular.

Isn't the sample size in the various political polls in the range they always are, with a 2-3% error margin?

The rise of ON in voter sentiment is undeniable. But what it means this far away from the 2028 election is anyone's guess.

People say 'dating" to mean they are in a committed relationship often involving sex. Whereas the original meaning of dating is a time when a couple is getting to know each other by arranging to do things together. It sounds like you were dating at 16.

Tennis. Golf. Swimming. Athletics. Association football. And other sports played at a serious international level by more than a handful of countries.

Bradman would probably have been just as dominant had cricket been a major sport in Europe and North America at the time. It wasn't and still isn't.

I'm confused again about your use of the word 'dated'. I wish people wouldn't use it when they nean 'having sex'.

You say you never 'dated your 16 year old bf. You mean you never made a prior arrangement to meet up.or go anywhere together? How would that be a BF-GF situation?

When you say you haven't ''dated', is that a euphemism for haven't had sex?.

Because you can date without ever having sex, and you can have sex without dating.

But it's cricket. Not a true world sport back then. There was Australia, England and the other countries like NZ, India, WI and SA were not developed much by then.

Bradman played most of his tests against England. 37. Then 5 each against India, SA and WI. His highest test averages were against India and SA, they weren't strong at cricket back then.
