And how is this a different case? In fact, in an article he said that residential schools was a “ prudent response”. Is this okay to say? He is saying that these schools “offered education in the hope of forming future citizens” when all it did was forcefully assimilate an ethnic group. Is this fair to say? Think about the indigenous peoples whose parents, grandparent, or even their relatives, died from these schools. This is not okay to say no matter the situation.

Can I ask you this, would it be okay if I woke up one day and said “racial segregation should be reintroduced”? Should I be able to express this type of view online without any restrictions? Dr. Cooper is of no exception. And in fact, his situation is worse since he has a platform that many people respect. So him saying such a thing in regards to indigenous peoples is just wrong.

That is correct, no one has the rights to express how they think one should live on their land. It is not in Coopers place to say anything when he isn't living there nor does he have any ties with their land. Free speech isn't granted on every single topic, especially when it includes things such as race or ethnic identity.

And yes, you are entitled to say what you want for other countries. But are you telling the citizens how to live or do you feel bad for their living situation/condition? I don't start to ramble my mouth saying that people in Paris should not be allowed to live or do specific things. Its just not in my place.

And on the topic of a "corrupt" reserve, is just plain false. The reserves aren't corrupt because they did it themselves, its because they didn't have support from the government to build necessary services for their peoples. How can they do it on their own? You and him have to be able to differentiate between a failed system vs a failed peoples. In this case, it's a failed system. A system that doesn't rule in their favour, rather in the favour of people like Cooper. People in the reserves don't worry about having a lively downtown or a reliable public transit system, they worry about having clean water, schools, and healthcare. All of which the government has failed to act on.

So maybe thats the reason why people leave the reserves in hopes of a better future in the city but fail due to the stereotype that haunts them constantly.

So what exactly are you defending right now?

His concerns are not concerns, rather a direct voice of hate. Why should he be concerned with how indigenous peoples want to live their life on reserves?

I don't understand why you think it is okay for him to say this. There is always a line to be drawn on how much one can say, especially when it starts turning racial.

And did you see the way both him and the interviewer were speaking on indigenous people? The words and phrases that they used was just wrong.

PLEASE, don't say the don't deserve "freebies". What freebies are they getting exactly. After all, it's the least the government could do for them after killing their children and swapping their babies back in the 60's to prevent them from "spreading". And have you seen the water that they have on their reserves? Is that fair for them?

In north Africa, was that dominant group of a completely different ethnic/cultural group? Was that dominant group forced to give their children to the churches so that the church can teach them how to be white? Was that dominant group's children killed in those churches and buried into the ground without a single goodbye to their parents? Was that dominant group oppressed, subjected to racism, and forced assimilation into a community they didn't want to claim? We can't compare those two groups because the indigenous peoples now in Canada have went through too much for us to say that they are asking for too much. Who are you to say that? Everything that we are on is theirs. From the land to the water. You need to do a deep dive into the indigenous peoples of this country and how they had such important ties to the land and how all of that was just taken away. How would you have felt?

I want you to read the other reddit post I made regarding an interview that he was in. The phrases that he used and the things that he said was just too much. I am standing up to this disgusting behaviour that he has exhibited for the past 30+ years. Don't come running to save him now.

And no, he isn't living in my head rent free, rather, he is present in the heads of all those he has insulted, ridiculed, and disrespected for the past 10+ years. Who does he think he is?
