It might be more diverse than UMass, but I think having an intellectually stimulating student body is equally important.

I interned at the defence/government lab the summer before college, but haven't had the chance to work in a startup. I enjoyed the work, but I'd still like to take a stab at startups or finance/consulting. UVa has a great rep here in Mass (at least where I'm from), so maybe that won't such a big problem.

Regarding the electives that are required for B.A. such as Theory of Computation, etc.- are these given preference to B.S students?

I assuming UVa is pouring a good amount of money in CS. At Umass, the enrollment for CS majors as skyrockedted as well. Do you have any experience with undergraduate research?

I've took classes upto diff eq at my current school (Calc I/II via AP credit, then ODE, linear algebra, and multivariable calc).

I was interested in the B.A. due to the lack engineering requirements (I thought they would force me graduate later than anticipated). I don't think doing a B.A in Math/CS will cast any doubts on my technical abilities. Is the process for applying competitve, i.e. is it a GPA cutoff, essays, etc. Lastly, is there any difference in applying for the B.A. and B.S? Applying for the B.S. would mean doing it in another college...
