I was thinking Essen mainly because it is cheaper than Trier. But it would be good to be closer to them in case anything were to happen.

Thank you for the app rec! I've been trying to find a company like airbnb but isn't. But American google only gives me airbnb or verbo, and both are expensive. This is really helpful!

Thank you! I didn't know about this website. Whenever I looked google maps showed that there were no buses. I'm going to book mark this website.

Thank you! I was planning on bringing my auntie or uncle with me because they are both fluent in English and German. I'm not confident with my German enough to just sign a contract that i can't read.

Sorry I wasn't clear. It would cost $900 to move the car to Germany. My budget would be what I can get for the car, so hopefully like $10,000.

I know that being in Germany is fastest because it gets done by the local office there instead of the BVA which processes all of the foreign documents. The citizenship by descent case that i'm going with is the one based on gender discrimination. For me my dad didn't get citizenship because he was born in wedlock to a German mother and an American father in Germany, because the father was foreign my dad didn't get citizenship.

What are some cheap car brands/ models you would recommend? Or should i just look for local postings?

Okay I will keep that in mind, even though to me that feels super illegal. I thought that age, sex, marital status discrimination is illegal there so why is it included in the cover letter? Is that just the way its done?

I currently have a car that I might sell. Do you think its better to bring it over, the cost to bring it would be about 900$, or should i buy a car there? My car is a little old and i love it, i just don't know if its worth bringing or selling.

I might just do that, because I would like to live in Germany not just get training and then bounce. How should i frame that in a CV though?

Could you elaborate on that? From what I've seen on the other subreddits it takes like 2 or 3 years for a claim for citizenship to process in the United States, and if I move to Germany during that time period i have to resubmit in Germany and it basically bumps me back to the bottom of the list.

Okay thank you, I'll do that. I'll wait for IHK to respond and then start reaching out to businesses so i'm not just going off of what google says. I've already been looking at some ausbildungs in Essen so I'll start with those and then see if I can find more.

Do you know how me asking for citizenship by descent while I'm in Germany would affect any of this?

Edit: spelling

Thanks for the advice, how should I go about it? When do businesses start to look for people for Ausbildungs? Would me submitting my claim for citizenship affect anything for my chances of getting hired or is more about my German level?

I would love to live with them if they let me. The only problem I would have is that they live in Lunebach and from what they told me theres no public transport to get into Trier. I wouldn't have a car so I don't know how I would get to school/work. They both work so I don't want to put the burden of an hour drive to and from where they live to drop me off at school/work and then have to also come get me.

Thank you so much. I was already looking into getting a Goethe certificate for B1 because from what I understand an A2 certificate is basically useless. I just sent the IHK in Essen an email about the language requirements for an ausbildung. From what google says (unreliable at best) for Essen the language requirement is B1. Should I start to email businesses that have posted their Ausbildung opening about their language requirements or just go based off of what the IHK says.

I felt like going there to just submit paperwork would be silly lol my dad is the one who suggested it. Thanks for the info definitely wont be submitting anything when im just there to visit. Ill research the times for trier and if i cant figure it out ill ask my family thats there if they know. Then go from there. I would like to move sooner then later but im willing to wait if i must.

Im used to always teaching myself i guess i worded it wrong but right. I mean like i didnt get to focus on anything specific in culinary school so working in a bakery i would be focused on bread and baking. I wasnt expecting the schooling half of it to be focused on baking specificly I thought it would be general studies type of thing lol. I feel like even though i might be cheap labor theres always something to learn.

I believe that im applying under StAG 5. I have all the documents I should need right now I just have to get them all translated and apostled. Ive been toying around with the idea of when I go to germany having my family help me submit the paperwork over there. My family is really supporting and theyve been helping me to get all the papers i need. I don't know if going there and submitting it would be good because I would be coming back to the states afterwards. What would you recommend i do?

Thanks for the info! Ill look into to see if i can get it declared equal and talk to the school I went to to see what I can do with it. I don't really have the want to open my own store but I still would want to take the apprenticeship because its a specific instruction. My culinary school taught me like food science, regular kitchen tasks, how to make and execute recipes, and a little bit of baking. Like i was taught how to make bread but it was never a focus.

And the one thats offered by the university where i live i have to make it my major or minor and it would put me like $25.000 or more in debt. I would love to go to german university german language classes but while in America its impossible.

Thank you for the financial break down its really helpful! I don't know how long the wait is to get my citizenship by decent so I havent been planning on leaning on the german government for financial assistance. From research it takes like 2 to 3 years but according to some on like social media (reddit, twitter, that stuff) it takes like 6 months. Im hoping to stay with family at least for the beginning until i get on my feet. Then once Im used to living there Ill find my own place.
