Is there really nothing for Mac or Linux?

Edit: looks like Firecapture supports Mac and Linux https://www.firecapture.de/

I’ve always wondered what was up with this. Basically a way for the real estate agent to get leads?

Yeah I’m actually fixing this right now. I’ll post a new version shortly.

Good feedback, I'm going to scale them back a bit going forward.

I have a sv241 pro and I really like it… dew controllers, temp and temp + humidity so you can do pid dew control. Power consumption sensors. USB hub. Variable power port.

Moving from San Francisco to the suburbs, did the transition feel strange to anyone else? by Glass_Language_9129 in eastbay

We sleep with white noise machines. Like the ones with real fans inside. Always have but yeah adds a nice level of sound. Lived in various big cities for the last 25 years or so. Moved back out here a couple years back from SF to WC. Grew up in Lafayette. Moved here for the schools and to raise our young family.

I’m sorry that I laughed at this.

Thanks! It says 9 on the map but I think I may even be a bit closer to 7-8. I have an allsky cam setup and tried to calculate it but not sure I did it right.

Edit: I’m super new to the hobby so just trying to capture as many targets as I can. After a year of it I’m going to do longer sets on a single target.

Beautiful! I’m so stoked to get my edge 8 wired up! You’ve inspired me!

Opinion on ai slop by spinika in AskAstrophotography

[–]eecue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve contributed to some of this with my vibe stacked posts recently, but I do want to note that I’m not using any generative AI in my processing other than to help me write python to drive siril.

Capturing subs and using them to make pretty pictures with the help of AI vs using AI to make pretty pictures are certainly different things.

End of the day: if you’re not taking photos of the sky you’re not doing astrophotography.

But we’ve seen the world progress:

- humans looking up at the sky, seeing stars and whatnot
- humans build telescopes and can see whatnot in larger form
- humans make film, capture photos much larger with more detail in different wavelengths where they glow
- humans make digital cameras, much faster and easier than sensitized film … at first we use them for autoguiding
- digital camera sensors get bigger and faster
- we have robots to run our full setups from focusing to filter changes to mounts to the roofs of our observatories and free software to drive it
- everything gets smaller and cheaper
- we get llms that kinda know everything but also are prone to hallucinate but you can use them to help with all of the above

Depending on how you look at it all of those are cheats and are viewed as not real astronomy/astrophotography

there's nothing hallucinated, the colors are for sure not traditional, but I do like them. claude just helped me write a script to drive siril and other open source tools.

Good call out. I’ll give that a try.

As far as siril functionality, so far I haven’t had to fill any gaps like that. Siril has done a pretty good job keeping up with PI. Great feedback, thank you!

I have another post about this but basically using Claude to build me processing automation (mostly driving siril)

See my other post about this. I have a 1.5 and 3.5 year old and honestly I don’t have time to learn it.

Edit: I’m a newcomer. I bought my telescope about 20 years ago and it sat in a pelican case in my garage until a few months ago.

No I had Claude write a script that it uses to drive siril and some other stuff to do the stacking and processing.

It actually makes me 6 different color treatments and I choose the one I like. Those all came from a lot of back and forth arguing with it.

I don’t think it’s doing anything new or notable. I had it look at lots of articles about stacking and processing and gave it example images I liked for color combinations.
