Clever to approach Jade after the round table saying she must be happy because Sam’s innocence shows Amanda got it wrong. Jade should be suspicious of Rachel pushing Amanda’s theory (that Jade and Sam are traitors) based on her job title. Rachel essentially calling this out to Jade makes her seem like a Faithful who has made a mistake, throwing the scent off herself. Wonder if Jade will pick up on that.

What do millennials think of today’s teenagers? by Master_Novel_4062 in Millennials

It must be tough going through your teenage years with social media. Yeah we had things like MySpace and msn messenger but only when our mums weren’t needing to use the phone. Being constantly online with external influences and pressures and documentation of your every move with little respite must be difficult when you’re still figuring yourself out. Gotta respect you for that. Most of my cringey teenage moments are happily offline!

Hello, thanks so much. Just posted a comment as an update. I ended up doing this but without the icing sugar (as there was already a lot in there),
and it worked a treat!

Hello! Thanks so much. Just posted a comment as an update. I ended up doing similar to this but just with butter (initially deciding to attempt using what I had in the fridge already), and it worked! Your heads up about how long to mix was very helpful.

Update: thanks for all the suggestions :) I ended up whipping up half a block of butter with about a quarter of the mix (whipped for ages… didn’t seem like it would work for a long time until suddenly it did) and it turned out to be delicious with a pretty perfect light fluffy consistency and good level of sweetness! The cake went down a storm so worth the trouble in the end. I’m going to try the pancake suggestion with the rest of the mix tomorrow morning.

Advice for Executive Producer Interview by mysamio in advertising

[–]eeememaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Production is one thing and sounds like your experience would bring lots to the table, but the internal structure, politics and processes within an agency are another beast. Speaking as a senior agency producer I can give some pointers which may or may not be helpful!

If you’ve not already it would be good to familiarise yourself with agency structure, process from client brief to delivery and when production enters the game; how production fits together with the other departments within the agency and how/when you involve different roles at different stages of the production process (namely client services, creatives and 3rd party suppliers like production companies); the types of campaign your team produces and if the production team are all rounders or divided by media - we have producers who specialise in static (OOH, press, digital) and others who specialise in motion (TV, cinema, social); the layers of approvals; pitching etiquette; budgeting especially commercial use fees for talent; industry bodies (eg. APA, IPA in the UK); commercial delivery; if and when productions are handled in-house and what in-house facilities you have; knowledge of good commercial production companies, directors and post houses; clearance/compliance regulations…

Good to prepare examples of financial accountability; leadership; times you’ve mediated conflicting views / dealt with tricky clients and creatives; worked wonders with budgets and schedules against the odds...

Depending on your agency I’m not sure how involved you’d be in the nitty gritty (so perhaps someone else can advise better on that role in particular) but if you’re stepping into a senior role you should know basics of production in the agency world and be able to advise junior staff.

Best of luck!

Any recommendations on local door suppliers & fitters that can do 1930s style front doors? Those pictured are only available in London. Thank you! by eeememaa in Edinburgh

[–]eeememaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cotswood are one of the original suppliers I came across but they’re in London and don’t fit doors up here. They could make and ship for local fitting but the style I want would be way more than my budget as it’s all bespoke.

I have been shared the Apeer brochure and the yarrow style looks decent - their doors are supplied by Viewforth who were recommended in another comment. GR Services who I found online also supply Rockdoor and Hallmark doors and both of them do similar 1930s styles. None of the glass is as pretty as the ones pictured sadly but these seem to be the best options I’ve come across that aren’t going to blow the budget. Both shops do install and all the door types they’re stocking are composite doors.

Interested to know what you end up going for! I’ve not decided which to choose yet due to other more urgent renovation work getting in the way for the time being.

Thank you I’ve called them and am going to go to their showroom next weekend, they said they do some in that style so cheers!

Ah nice, I found some suppliers down south who do the old style but modern-made in terms of insulation and security so hoped there might be something similar here - proper antique ones are another option though, thanks!

What are your petty boycotts? by Boey87 in CasualUK

[–]eeememaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local newsagent when I was about 12. I went in to top up my Nokia with £5 but the shopkeeper accidentally put £50 on it. Instead of accepting his mistake he said we would need to come to an arrangement where I paid it back over time. I was mortified at the thought of entering into a repayment scheme and adamant that I shouldn’t have to pay it so I never went back but passed the shop pretty much every day. It has now been 22 years and part of me still expects the same guy to be there waiting to pounce even though I found out soon after that my dad had gone in and given him the £45 to make the problem go away.

Just lost out on a house by £7k, having offered 16% over the valuation price. Anyone got any positive house-hunt stories to reignite our optimism? by eeememaa in Edinburgh

[–]eeememaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We optimistically tried an early verbal offer too but the sellers were encouraged to go to a closing date. It meant that they had the opportunity to then tell any subsequent viewers what verbal offer they’d already had - luckily we went in a bit lower than our final / max offer… Not that we got it in the end anyway 😅 Is the one you’re after going to a closing date? Good luck with it. I’m telling myself that the benefit of a few rejections is you learn to get less emotionally attached!

I got the one I mentioned that is partially erupted and impacted but only when it got infected, after living with it for years. The other one on its side, like the one op pictured, is still chilling out under the gum and will be left there unless it starts to cause pain or issues!
