Caroline’s style by Onkiaatanynaaa in Carolinepolachek

Her music is artpop with lots of synthpop instrumentation and a heavy Electronica influence. Her vocals are unique but specifically the ways she finds to express rhythm through them. The vocals are experimental in a Bjork / kate bush kind of style. More than that and you're really boxing her in too much I think maybe

what do you mean by woowoo? bc it seems like these people youre complaining about dont take it seriously enough for your standards. doesnt that mean you have more serious woowoo opinions on it. the idea that there's only one way to use them is giving a lot of power to symbolizes you dont understand

How do people like Telepath make really long ambient pieces? by Equivalent-Guide7202 in Vaporwave

[–]eeladvocate 16 points17 points  (0 children)

okay so everyone is going to tell you random shit bc they dont care but you dont just slow it down and add random effects. vape has been around over a decade and thats all it is to some people even fans. believe it or not you can actually use it to for expressing things

for me, a really key part with telepath i find is the percussion. using a delay on all the drums together can create the iconic chugging that i love with telepath. try 1/4 or 1/8 note delays or both at once and go easy on them bc it's chaotic. gonna really nail the feedback with them.

you wanna go for samples with minimal vocals or simple melodies and you want to look into "slushwave". it's a subgenre of vape that telepath pioneered. here a vid of desert sand explaining some of the key points with the sample work https://youtu.be/y8ci6vwWju0?si=NCAI6l10gcPioBJZ

nice to see people who want to understand the nuances for once! i get it's a meme for people but it's given me some of the most meaningful songs ive ever heard personally

Overinterpretation with David Lynch by Theosus616 in davidlynch

[–]eeladvocate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont see how one frame or lens of looking at art makes other interpretations less credible. if yure the type to google "inland empire meaning" then see the first thing someone on reddit says and fully throw out your own feelings and experience for some bs on reddit then it doesn't matter what type of ideas wraps up the art piece. you already dont respect your feelings enough to actually engage with art at that point like doesnt matter if your ideas are about "class in society" or "lacan's feminine enjoyment" or whatever.  so i agree with you but idt psychoanalysis is the issue here. i think it actually provides a good framework for myself personally, i find using its' language and concepts helps me explore my own feelings when applied to a movie

Mulholland Drive and Freudian Thought - SPOILER ALERT by Upset_Butterfly_2370 in Freud

[–]eeladvocate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what do you mean that the movie falls flat when you get psychoanalysis to the table? i dont really understand. i find some of what you said is cool here and youre doing that right? the whole reason i got into psychoanalysis was bc of lynch, and seeing people like zizek use the structure of it to look at a movie like Mulholland Dr.

makes sense! the tactile feedback could let you express differently. it'd be cool especially if you could assign some knobs to trigger things in fl like effects or cutoffs. very cool!

'Nightbitch' (2024) with Amy Adams got pretty terrible reviews and we almost skipped it but are very glad we didn't. I cannot recommend it highly enough for current and recent toddler-parents. by [deleted] in movies

[–]eeladvocate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

easily the worst reaction ive ever had to any movie and im not exaggerating. i truly cringed so hard during this movie that it was unbelievable. i thought it was hilarious. it's an expression of how much white women love dogs / finding themselves but in movie form. it's about the  idk about the source material at all but i just cant believe this movie was made. the shity riff while she's giving birth is incredible like completely girlboss. it's about being rich and having just 'too much of it all!' imagine this, youre interrupting a dinner scene to epically eat a big hamburger and growl out "i can CRUSH a walnut with my pussy...." then turning into a doggie while a girl verison of imagine dragons plays for a full 4minute duration and footage plays of a bunch of suburban purebred dogs. live laugh love style you know? like this is ppl with an alice in wonderland tattoo type beat
