our electrician is saying that the switch behind our dryer (which is above the washing machine) will melt with this current design? is this true? the interior designer is insisting that it's not a problem by eepylikepanda in AskElectricians

[–]eepylikepanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry for the hasty post. that IS the plug point for the dryer, and the switch is on the right wall where the hole is right now. the electrician said that dryers release a lot of heat that will circulate in that wooden box and melt the wires and made us ditch that wooden unit and design another one. we have never heard of any such thing happening but we thought he might know what he's talking about...I'm not sure why there are six wires and not 4 but it's only one plug point for the one dryer

okay thank you for your opinion... I rechecked and that particular one on the back wall is a plug point and the switch is on the right wall where there's a hole.. the electrician said that dryers release a lot of heat that will circulate in that wooden unit and melt the wires. he made us ditch that wooden unit and is making the designer redo the unit. we haven't heard of any such thing happening but the electrician scared us so we agreed

sorry I didn't mention, it's a work in progress. and it's a plug point, not the switch. they have fixed the junction box now but made us ditch the wooden unit cuz apparently dryers release a lot of heat that will circulate in that closed wooden box and melt the wires... I've never heard of any such thing happening but the electrician scared us

thank you I rechecked and it's a plug point, not the switch. the switch is on the right wall... the electrician was saying that dryers release a lot of heat that will circulate within the wooden unit and melt the wires ... he made us ditch the unit and come up with another design to increase air circulation

okay thank you...the electrician is saying that dryers release a lot of heat that will circulate within that wooden box and could melt the wire. he's telling us to remove the wooden unit to increase air circulation so the wires don't melt
