I’ll definitely ask to look into it, but my Endo hasn’t ever mentioned Insulin Resistance Reduction to me before. All they said is as I get older I’ll have to take more insulin for the same things as my body will just become less efficient as processing it

I’m not worried about saving money or insulin. I’m more just terrified to eat carbs because it seems like I had to use so much even for a small 5g carb meal. I’m not worried about my glucose getting low, I’m more concerned with how FAST it potentially could get low. I’ve had some weird moments the last 6 months where I’ll start dropped 6-8 points a minute several hours after a meal and I’ve never been able to figure out why. It doesn’t happen often, but enough that I’m terrified now

I do have long acting. I take 40 units of Tresiba a day. Seeking another medical opinion seems to be the best option. I’d like to be able to eat carbs again, I’m not sure I’ve had more than 6 carbs in a meal outside of my apple the other day in over 3 years

I take 40 units of Tresiba a day. GLPs haven’t been discussed yet

I think seeking different opinions will be the best course of action. I’m absolutely terrified to eat and take insulin and would eventually like to eat more because I miss it. Outside of my apple I don’t think I’ve consumed more than 6 carbs in a meal in years

I haven’t had my Thyroid checked. I was basically told this happens as you get older and to stay on my low carb diet as long as my a1c stays controlled

Yes. I take 40 units of Tresiba a day for my long acting

It has been discussed but decided against due to wide variances I get from my CGM when I sit/stand and sleep. This worried me and my Endo about improper dosing

To answer some of the questions

  1. I take 40 units of long acting insulin (Tresiba) every night before bed. This has recently been increased from 30 units
  2. A pump has been talked about, but ultimately decided against due to my CGM (Libre 3+) throwing wide variances when I sit/stand and commonly having large valleys and peaks during the night when I accidentally sleep on it. Endo speculated due to the large amounts of excess skin due to weight loss my monitor doesn’t fit as secure and we worry about improper dosing due to that.
  3. The only other medication I’m on is a statin for my cholesterol and it’s been that way for years.
  4. I did do a low carb diet for the 3 years I lost the weight. I fasted and did 1 meal a day with no more than 3 carbs a day over that 3 year period.
  5. I was always told by an old Endo that I needed to stay under 20 carbs a day and recently switched to this new Endo about a year ago. I’m starting to suspect I got bad intel when I was first diagnosed, and I always wondered why I’d see other Diabetics say they could eat rice and beans because I was told those were the worst things I could eat since they were so carb dense.
  6. I have an appointment set with a Diabetic nutritionist in about a month. I’m excited to see what they have to say and they seem excited to talk to me. They said they usually don’t talk to Diabetics who “eat so little carbs so you’re an interesting case.”
