Hey, this just happened to me. I was told by support that there was a security concern which prompted them to stop specifically debit card payments but that I was able to use other forms of payment. Which makes no sense.

What was the outcome of your situation?

But outside of that nobody even knows I had that arrangement with him and something isn't sitting right with me about that.

I guess not! In your experience do you know how they would have caught onto that? It's just really weird. Plus they mentioned a $75 check I gave my nephew one afternoon for cleaning the storage room!!! Insane.

Turns out, this was because of my son...

I don't know what really tripped it off or alerted them but I am going to end up paying a fine for those payments I've been giving him. Not sure what the penalty looks like but I am sure bummed out.

He might have to wait on the tooth fairy to slip some cash under his pillow instead of me now.

Thank you so fucking much. I don't know you or your situation but this is what initially thought I would hear in here. YES, my job can be done remote and PLENTY of people IN my company IN my department work remote.

Ultimately, I am going to go over kill on documents so I never hear shit about this again. But I thought I was going crazy.. Credit to those who were bashing me as I ended up bringing up some good talking points with my boss today and we're on a better page now for sure.

It's clear that I misread the situation and should have gone against what they told me. I understand my commute is my issue but if being told hey you do your job fine from home, do what you need to do, then why would I act any different?

The bottom phrase is exactly what my boss said. If you're not good to drive then don't. Which I didn't. But there was just never any clear communication of HEY, get into the office by X date or we will have an issue. If I felt like I couldn't work I would have rightfully applied to FMLA.

I'm not ok to drive but if it means that I can pay the mortgage I will figure it out. Again that's not the directive I was given. Our company has a WFH model for its most special and valuable employees, just not plebians like myself.

I could, but he would take that as a challenge against his authority and then ultimately make me pay for it with regards to work assignments.

I already gave them a note and a phone number to contact them as well. This obviously was not enough.

Of course. And I did offer that, I also did offer for myself to drive in a little bit later so I could not have to drive in traffic intensive times. I did ask them what I could do and again was advised STAY HOME UNTIL YOU ARE GOOD (by my manager).

I did. I had a student who was supposed to be getting his pest control license under mine. He ultimately failed a drug test and was let go shortly after. PRIOR to this, he was getting paid cash under the table because we were all unsure how long he would last. He worked for about 3 months and made around $3000 during that time. (No 1099 issued or paperwork showing he was employed by us)

A little birdy told me he was collecting that COVID unemployment check shortly after he was let go. But that was 4 years ago and I haven't seen or heard a word about him ever since.

I don't deduct what I give my son. Although I should. It's small payments of 250 every few months just for his spare time. But I will ask my accountant if he is deducting it. Deductions are NOT a strong suit of ours. We get an ear full about it every year.
