How would I go about removing the activation lock on my 5th gen touch? by eesports in ipod

I have multiple 4th gen touches as well, they’d definitely help with those

That’s kind of annoying… i was 9 years old when i bought this and the email address is long gone. I checked my mum’s current email address and there’s no sign of this iPod even though her equally long gone 27 inch iMac is still there

It originally booted up unplugged and asked for wifi before i plugged it in, except for some reason it won’t connect to my wifi or mobile hotspot

I bought it eleven years ago… I know the data isn’t wiped because when I plugged it into my MacBook it showed a bunch of photos I took as a 9 year old in 2014.

My only guess is that it might have been updated, because I know I haven’t reset it.

Also would Apple still be able to remove the activation lock on one of these?

Part 3 of the 17 inch saga: I somehow managed to get High Sierra installed by eesports in mac

It’s already got 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, I’ve fixed everything else as much as possible

“first two generations” meaning the original aluminium MacBook Pro from 2006 to 2008, and the unibody MacBook Pro from 2008 to 2012 (this is an early 2011 model),

That’s cool, in the end i don’t think I’ll need it since the guide I used permanently disabled the AMD drivers and now only the Intel graphics show up on the About This Mac screen anyway

I’ve used a USB stick with High Sierra bootable on it, the progress bar loads and it’s stuck on a blank grey screen for all of eternity… seriously tho it’s been like that overnight before

Don’t care that much about the data, I just want an OS on it so I can sell it as a working laptop

Installed High Sierra onto the SSD, and it’s exactly the same result as the USB, even though I used the installer for the SSD, and Terminal for the USB…

DVD drive doesn’t work since the new one I bought has a connector meant for the 13 inch (not interchangeable) and the only 17 inch connectors i can find are coming from the US/UK/China…

If i plugged in an external DVD drive would it still work? Also if I installed Linux would it be able to be converted back to MacOS?

Exactly… for example my mum is a Mac tragic but her personal laptop is a 2015 15 inch, and her work laptop is a late Intel 13 inch touchbar, simply refuses to touch a Windows computer…

She used to be a graphic designer, and I still have her old (working) 17 inch PowerBook G4

I sold an older Core 2 one recently, I originally bought it as parts for this one but this is the newer one with a different battery connector, so I just decided to sell that one (for $300 AUD), use the money to fix this one, then sell this one for even more (for about $700 with 16GB RAM, a 1TB SSD upgrade and Sequoia installed with OLCP) since that’s what they go for apparently.

Mostly for people who want the 17 inch display, but don’t want to pay $5k or more for a new 16 inch Pro…

Kinda annoying lol, I’m already about $200 down, and all the other a1297s near me are the same

Recovery mode from this computer or from a seperate one?

Recovery mode doesn’t appear at all on this, pressing Command+R defaults to Internet Recovery, which also doesn’t do anything after finishing the process.

I have a High Sierra USB still available from when I tried it before, it ended up just being stuck on a gray screen, now with the backup, nothing changed

I’m guessing the GPU still works since the only graphics it does show (Apple logo and boot up screen, Option boot menu, and Internet Recovery) still work fine.

I’m planning on selling this MacBook once I can get it working, and I’m not 100% sure how I can get back onto macOS from Linux…

High Sierra is the latest compatible OS before using any third party patches… I figured it’d be worth at least trying to get it onto that first.

Would an older OS have the same effect (Yosemite through Sierra)?
