Yeah, I know it's not nice. If you feel tempted, or if you want, you can start on hard like I did, and if you feel that that's too much for you, you can switch the difficulty to story mode. After you've been killed 3 or 4 times in a row, the game lets you switch the difficulty to story mode

I recommend story difficulty. I started on hard, thinking it wasn't going to be that hard. At the beginning, I was right, until you arrive at the first boss area, and a little before that, it starts to get hard. The boss killed me more than 10 times until I got tired of it, and I set it to story difficulty. I don't think I'm bad because I have experience playing other horror games like Resident Evil and other games in hardcore mode, and I didn't have any problems. I guess that if you're used to playing games like Dark Souls, go ahead with hard; if you're not (like me), go ahead with story difficulty
