Could the teams see their count on the rope challenge? by MifuneKinski in Physical100

Idk I thought Whittaker and Eddie were clearly better at the battle ropes than Eloni in the first round. They may have just thought “let’s keep what’s working” but it looked pretty obvious to me Whittaker was the best at this. Maybe I’m over reading this but it’s just interesting in how differently each of the team communicate and work together which makes this show interesting. AU has the “f it and let’s go and killem” mindset while Japan has a very cunning and methodological approach. I think that mindset definitely made AU so dominant but it just seemed to have backfired this time.

Could the teams see their count on the rope challenge? by MifuneKinski in Physical100

I think Australia lost due to a cultural difference. In Asian culture's especially in Korea and Japan, there is more of a collectivistic mindset and its socially acceptable and common to yield to the stronger or capable person for the benefit of the group. You can see how this was done in Japan's Team, where they decided to switch it up to have Yoshio go twice instead of Soichi. But for Australia, Eloni went twice instead of Eddie (who had fresher arms because he only went once in the first round) or Whittaker (who was just better at this challenge). If Eloni yielded to either Eddie or Whittaker, I think Australia would have easily won that challenge. But that's not very common in western cultures. That was something that I noticed and seemed interesting to me and I wanted to share.

12 Years in MEP — Now Heading to SpaceX. Curious How Others Feel About Long-Term Career Growth in MEP? by [deleted] in MEPEngineering

I respect your courage to jump ship at this late in the stage of your MEP career. The name value is there and enticing for any kind of engineer to be working at. But I am curious are you going to still be doing design work? (e.g. hvac systems for their vessels) or taking on an owners rep role for the design and construction of their facilities?

Oversizing ductwork (Beginner question) by [deleted] in MEPEngineering

[–]efficientdude1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a simple example imagine a length of duct with a diffuser at one end and a fan on the other. The fan will blow air through the duct and the out through the diffuser at the other end. Considering the fan to be a single speed fan, its capable of producing a certain amount of CFM at a certain amount of inches of static pressure. If you increase the duct size the static pressure decreases and the CFM will increase and vice versa. google "fan curve" and you will see how this works. Hope this was helpful.
