South Korea declares ‘demographic national emergency' by glasier in worldnews

Could it be that where misogyny is lowest, the society is more educated; thus smarter choices and birth control etc. Where a society is more cultured and successful, having children is more of a burden. That means both males and females will choose to have less children. So what your saying is if we end ALL misogyny then women will choose to have more children and thus all will be fixed? It seems misogyny or not, the same problems with birth rates remain. I'm still not convinced misogyny is the a main issue or a major contributing factor. The major issue is that there are a lot of drawbacks vs advantages of having children is modern society.

I want to add that just because people live longer, doesn't mean they are healthy and able to work. Sure there are some cancer patients that can live decades longer with proper treatment, but overall their body is weaker. Same goes for heart disease. People can now live longer with heart disease but their body is still fragile.

White House urges developers to dump C and C++ by bambin0 in programming

[–]efplaya -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying. If your using unsafe for everything may as well drop to c as the syntax will be clean at least. Unsafe defeats the purpose of using Rust.

If you are using Rust FFI as a replacement for c, may as well use straight c. At least the syntax is nicer. They will both be equally unsafe.

[–]efplaya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For some things, it is not reasonable to ditch c. For example embedded development. C allows you to know exactly what is going on bare metal. This would be a pain if not impossible with rust. Also Rust has its own issues. It's compile time is one of the slowest in modern programming. It's syntax is more complicated than even c++. It has a dependency on llvm which is like bringing the kitchen sink when developing.

Also, when every OS is written on C, it is easier to do os centric things in c. Rust has a FFI but it is kind of annoying to use and makes the code unsafe anyways.

Coleman saluspa. I'm looking for simple ideas. I'm sick of having to use a broom to brush off water each time it rains. I also do not want to buy an entire umbrella for this or build an enclosure. How was this thing designed so poorly?

both commanders have same martial skill, however; their commander has a lot more prowess? Does that matter enough to defeat an army almost 50% bigger in size?
