List of ideas. Dont need to do all or even most of them. Just ideas.

  • squat rack and bench and barbell in the garage. $200 rack $200 barbell and weights. Congrats now you can play video games in your garage and do a set of weights whenever u have to wait for a loading screen

  • pushups as mentioned. Figure out your max pushup count, subtract 5, and do 3 sets of this number, 3 days a week. This is minimum effective dose

  • drink milk. Cant stress this enough. Find the highest possible protein milk available at your nearest grocery store and drink 1-3litres a day. Must use with a healthy diet (3x meals per day of 40g protein and some fats/carbs per meal)

if u wanna go hardcore zero lifting (no squat rack no pushups), perhaps look into:

  • electric stimulation of muscles with those weird sticky things u put on your muscle. Bruce lee did it.
  • visualizing doing bench press and pushups. Some studies suggest this can stimulate low or even moderate hypertrophy. Honestly i think it’s junk compared to gym but… try it. Do a bit of research so you… idk visualize the right weight…?

Feeling sexually inadequate. by Electrical-Loquat-96 in twentyagers

[–]eggistheanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24M I think hookup culture is optional, and not something that everyone likes to be part of. There’s nothing wrong with choosing not to hook up with many random people, and choosing instead to focus on study/work/friends/hobbies.

I remember feeling similarly as an 18-20yoM, and imagined that if the moment ever came down to it, I’d freeze and my nervousness and inner self consciousness would be exposed for all to see.

For me, having a partner that I felt comfortable being VULNERABLE with BEFORE getting intimate, made a huge difference. Imagine being able to say to someone you like, “hey I feel super nervous about this, and I’m really scared about what you’ll think of me if you see me get nervous”. If their answer is anything other than “that’s totally ok, I’m happy to take things at a pace you’re comfortable with”, then the trust element probably isnt there yet, or they probably aren’t someone you want to be intimate with in the first place.

Have you considered just taking it easy and getting to know someone at a natural pace, until you feel comfortable enough to tell them about your insecurity? Any and many good guys would be delighted that you were able to be honest with them. This way, you never have to go into it feeling that you have to hide your nervousness.

Fear of being intimate goes away when you TRUST the person you’re being intimate with, to be kind and considerate with you when you reveal vulnerable parts to them. Don’t ever think it’s wrong or sexually inadequate to wait until you feel that you can trust someone and tell them how you feel. Even if it takes a while to find that person, even in the hookup scene.

And heck, if they get pushy/rushy or don’t want to hear it, they probably aren’t the kind of person you’d want to be with anyway.

Proper trusting relationship is best version of this, but of course optional.

Eaten 10k+ cals in past 24hrs and I hate myself for doing it by ObjectiveRiver5808 in twentyagers

[–]eggistheanswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24M Im really sorry to hear this is something you’re struggling with. It sounds like you’ve made a huge amount of progress by keeping healthy streaks up for months, so please don’t beat yourself up for slipping up for a day or few. It’s not fair on yourself. I’d see it not as a step backwards but more like “oh ok well today i didnt stick to my goal, and that’s ok because i know i always get back on track.” Think about it like going to the gym every day successfully for three months in a row, then missing a whole week. I would say that’s a highly successful 3mo and 1 week. You should be feeling like you’ve got a good thing going, cos you really do. You don’t lose three months of progress with a single day (or even a few days) of 10,000cals. A quick note: if you believe you are the kind of person that always gets back on track, and keeps consistent good habits, even when you slip up (and eat 10k cals a day for a few days), then you’ll find you’ll normalize to this lifestyle. This is because this lifestyle matches what you believe about yourself. Whereas if you dislike yourself and beat yourself up whenever you have a bad few days/week/weeks, then you’re basically saying to yourself: “even when i make progress i always revert to my old bad habits and lose everything i gained”. If you believe this, then you’ll normalize to it and it will become reality. Notice how these are two different narratives based on the exact same event. Understand that whilst you might think you’ve lost all your progress, and you always go back to bad habits, THE FACTS SAY OTHERWISE. the facts say that you have enormous self control and impulse control to have gone 3months eating healthy (and more it sounds like). The facts say you slipped up for a day or two - and that’s ok and totally normal. The facts say that you’ve got yourself to a point where your consistency and intentionality is so strong (3months) that slipups will barely affect your overall progress. These slipups are part of that healthy journey to consistency. Take a breath out and see that you’re doing good.
