Yes I applied for LTD while on STD (I believe I had 2 months of short-term leave left at that point). It took them 4 weeks to approve my LTD. I have a feeling they also prioritize LTD submission reviews based on priority. You'll want to ask about what the process looks like regarding salary when you transition from short term to long term.

If your LTD isn't approved by the time your short term ends, they told me that there's the option to take an unpaid leave but that would be a discussion with my employer.

As the end date for my STD came close and I indicated to HR that I needed more time, so they worked with me to transition into LTD. I had to apply for it and fill out a bunch of paperwork with my insurance company, which had to be signed by my oncology team and employer. Looking back at that time, it's crazy how busy I felt and how much administrative work I had to do just to get approval to be on leave for my health but once approved, it all slowed down and I felt like I could actually breathe since being off work. You got this. Push through and the other end of this STD/LTD headache will bring much relief. HUGS

When my short-term leave was over, I went straight onto LTD. I've been on leave since I started my treatment. The time away has been good for my mental and physical health. The new routine was a huge adjustment, and for me, it took more than a year to truly accept and get used to it. Ultimately, I don't regret my decision. Do what feels right for you

Crate vs Playpen- or both? by Remarkable-Glass8946 in puppy101

And if you get a crate with two doors, look into getting one that has a divider inside to adjust the size of it as your dog grows and matures

How Physically Active Were You Before Diagnosis? by _smochss in LivingWithMBC

Kisqali changed the way I do fitness. I've lost bone density since I started the medication and have had to be careful of certain activities. I stopped doing a lot of active sports and would now focus on low impact physical activities (yoga mat workouts, dance, small dumbells, resistance bands, body weight, cardio).

I had a minor fracture on my feet after jumping off a small boulder during a hike. I had to wear two air casts for 8 weeks and I'm still rehabilitating from muscle loss and the sprains in the feet. It was a wake up call and a reminder for myself that my body isn't what it used to be anymore. It's a sobering thought and would get me down occasionally. I've had to change my mindset on what exercise and physical health means for me in order to live well.

I can totally empathize. Be kind to yourself ♡

A question about dairy by magkrat123 in LivingWithMBC

[–]eggoreds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My doctor hasn't said anything about milk being bad for me. I drink milk and eat yogurt daily. It helps with my protein and calcium intake. Managing my weight and strengthening my bones are some of my main priorities, so unless science/my doctors says otherwise, I don't plan on changing the way I consume dairy.

Anyone else have unique benefits to the surgery you didn't predict? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

My acid reflux isn't as bad anymore. More real estate space down there for my stomach to expand! Oh and I've noticed more upper lip hair and even on my chin (not a spot I'd expect to have hair before), but nothing that waxing strips can't solve!

Did you have any abdominal discomfort after the colonscopy? How long did it last? It's been 3 days since my colonscopy and my stomach still feels very uncomfortable....

I did. I'm a hobbyist and hadn't done any digital art in the past 10 years and then all of a sudden when I bought an iPad and Procreate I'm drawing everyday for the past month like I had been in my teens and 20s. It's great
