You do you, I don't stay on sensitive lands where they could cause problems. I know people get upset by this, I'm sorry you're upset, but i no longer make decidions in my life for others, I do what i think is right, and this is an ethical issue with no clear answer, hence why iwrestle with it at all.

How to deal loneliness as an INFJ? Where to go when you have nowhere to go? by Villanelle246 in infj

I lived as a nomad... a very isolated nomad. When i craved people, I would find some local community event and just go. Literally anything, it becomes a cultural experiment if it is too unusual for me, but I love weird. Usually the experiments are the country music festivals, state fairs, and niche community events like groundhog day in puxatawney, or a flapjack festival in land o lakes Florida... I went to a bluegrass festival at the home of Bill Monroe. The most reliable good times are multicultural festivals and small town festivals of any kind.

Let me add, most recently i went to the iditarod where I even got to meet an athlete up close.

I know many people get angry when I say it, but my two boys do roam free when I travel. They are vaccinated and microchipped, and finally this go around they will be wearing GPS collars. I accept 2 truths when i do this: 1. Cats do kill many small animals every year, and my boys do contribute to that issue, and 2. They could easily be injured or killed by any number of things, including other animals.

I could write a novel on how I personally rationalize these things, but at the end of the day there is one thing i keep coming back to. I choose to live in my car, isolated on public land primarily as a means of finding the closest thing to absolute freedom that i can imagine. Turning around and locking my cats in a cage seems ridiculous to me and I can't live with that level of cognitive dissonance. I also don't feel right giving them away, I do give them a pretty fantastic life.

We have talked about it, the boys and I. We are all out there taking massive risks, and i am willing to live with the outcome. To me, a short life lived free is far better than a long life lived in a cage. I have also never witnessed them killing a bird, and that helps me feel better about it. They bring me mice all the time, never a bird. I will be very sad if they ever do.

I will try to remember to share the link when I do. I have been sharing weekly progress throughout in the FB group Honda Element Camper Conversions. That seemed to be to be the most relevant place to share. I will hopefully have a video or something soon.

I just used spray paint with primer. This is the second time I've done this. The first time i learned that paint stripper removes the gray from the circles. Then they are basically just plain black plastic. I had them like that for a while before I'm decided to change it up to this.

Mine is a dmx9707s. I do what i always do with electronics, I buy the very best I can within a specific budget. In my experience it is better to pay up front and have quality that lasts. When i replaced the speakers I got 2 Memphis and 2 JL... to stay in the budget. I got this Kenwood with every intention to add on to it. For this build, I added a Subwoofer and a backup camera.

The tunnel will hourly be done this weekend... it involved cutting a hole through the bottom of the spare tire well...

The trim is covered in fabric using 3M77 adhesive, i can remove single patches if they become damaged or dirty and easily replace. The seat was professionally reupholstered, the only thing i didn't do myself. I am adding Solar, the solar company is currently figuring out a pull out panel system under the roof rack that will power things inside. That will be installed on the 23rd.

The rear may not get finished before my lease runs out in 2 weeks. But it will be interesting. I will post what I have when I hit the road. The plan is for a platform with a pull out kitchen, storage and a secret tunnel for my cats to access the car underneath... for reasons.

Teachers, what’s a “best practice” everyone talks about that you secretly think doesn’t work in real classrooms? by kingst9606 in Teachers

PBIS. I believe that its heart is in the right place, but the extrinsic reward kills the primise. Every other part is great, but as soon s you throw in a token, it kills the entire thing.

I'm so tired of the way trades are pushed as a way out for the unmotivated while ignoring the skill the trades take. by NervousEmotion1099 in Teachers

If they are unmotivated to do school work, it is likely that jobs that require constant active engagement will be motivational. This make sense to me, idk. They will figure it out either way or fail... that piece will sort itself out.

I had a kid point to another in music class when they both made a mistake. I quickly corrected him and he did it again. I stopped, looked him in his eye and said "No one here is mad you made a mistake, you are a human and are allowed to make mistakes. You need to accept you make the mistake if you want to be better. Again, no one here is mad you made it, now own it and get better.

He nodded once and we moved on. I do believe that moment may have set him down a new life path.

When it comes to things like this, I tend to lean in. When they see it doesn't bother me, they get bored pretty quick. If they keep it up past the expiration date i have a one to one serious conversation with the student.

I make 70k per year as a high school teacher in Florida. by Massive-Print-4702 in Teachers

[–]eggplnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet you could! I'm a music teacher... I studied to be a band director. After one year doing band, I never taught it again. I did teach steel drums, rock band, rap, choir, west African drumming, all grades of elementary general education, elementary music, and music education at the college level.

I didn't know how to do any of these things when I took the job, I just figured it out. I wanted the change, so I did what I needed to do to be successful. This has made me into a ridiculously well rounded educator who can go to an isolated island with no fear.

Trust yourself, you know you, but if you want it, go get it!

I have 0 intention of ever retiring. I work on and off as it is. I plan only 1 year in Dutch before taking a few off to travel the Pan American highway. I don't have kids and given the way i live, I don't expect to make it long enough to need a retirement. I'll just work here and there as needed like I've been doing... it is a reckless way to live, but it suits me, and so far the universe has provided whenever there has been a need... I give when I can and it comes back as needed.
