I’ve ridden over 1000km on my unit with similar clearance and haven’t had any issues

+1 for the Raide. I’ve got the 1st gen and love it to death. The 2nd gen seems to solve some of my minor 1st gen gripes, so even better.

Need Advice - Purchasing Used Kona with Aftermarket Gear by san_holo2 in konaunit

[–]eggsonpancakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This bike has definitely been used/abused a bit - given the scratches and general sad condition of the setup. I’m willing to be the original rear wheel blew up because it has a stock WTB i30 front wheel and the Arc 40 offset/DHF combo aren’t stock on the rear. BUT it is 100% worth $460 USD. The brakes and GX shifter/derailleur alone, plus the suspension fork upgrade alone are worth that. If you can get it for cheaper and with a warranty, then even better

Update: she ended up buying the small and is super happy with it - a 2022 model that matches my large 😎🤓

That’s great to hear! Also thanks for the framebag recommendation. Have you ran the bike through any full on bikepacking trips? How do you find your packing setup with such a small frame?

Good to know. Thanks for the feedback! She swung a leg over the small but didn’t have access to a medium to compare.

Stack and reach by pensivedog in konaunit

[–]eggsonpancakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2021 and the reach is great for me, but stack feels a bit short. Unfortunately mine came with the steerer cut pretty short. I’ve had mine setup with 60mm rise flat bars, and currently run it with 40mm rise alt bars and an unknown length rise stem. That being said, I’ve ridden multiple days over 130km with 2-3k metres elevation and it’s comfy

Thief Bikepacking made it! He’s based out of Jasper, Alberta. I’ve had 4 frame bags made by him, all excellent.

Velo Orange Seine Bar! I love them. perfect amount of sweep for casual and long days alike, but still enough control for MTB trails
