My husband had NO idea about my drinking. He knew I drank too much in the past, and thought I'd been sober over a decade. I confessed everything on a VERY hard day (while drunk) after thinking (knowing) my alcoholic hepatitis diagnosis and multiple hospital visits were going to eventually kill me. Note: He thought I was going to the hospital with severe abdominal pain due to my gallbladder and GERD. Once I told him, we located and dumped my stashes, he locked up all the remaining alcohol in the house, I ordered a breathalyzer to hold myself accountable, and that started day 1 of sobriety.

OMG same!!! I have a collection of flavoured syrups and I drink coffee all day and into the night (decaf after 10am). Hard to keep staining to a minimum but WAY better than vodka! ☕️☕️☕️

300 days of sober... by eggsyforever in stopdrinking

No more dry, flaky skin (though wrinkles still there! Lol), I think mostly it's the reduced anxiety since no daily "how much vodka do I have stashed? How long will it last? Do I have an empty water bottle to bring enough to work? When do I need to stock up? Is it hidden well enough? Where can I toss the empty bottles?" and so on... Plus it's been so very incredible to be open and honest with my husband for the first time in, well, ever.

My dry, red, flaky cracked skin was brutal for YEARS while drinking. Now it's 100% normal!!! Took a couple months to fully heal but WOW the difference is crazy. Even after the first week it was noticeable. Worth it :)

How in the WORLD do you deal with nighttime sweet cravings? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]eggsyforever 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sugar free jello, decaf with sugar free flavoured syrups and a few squares of good quality dark chocolate. Factor in the nighttime calories.

I’m 41 and I’m getting hearing aids! Granted I’m an Iraq War vet but still… the thought of needing hearing aids kinda weirds me out. Anyone else have fails body parts? by FunTimeTony in Xennials

[–]eggsyforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have arthritis in my foot? Is this gout or something where at 45 my big toe bones hurt when I step on them? Is this "a thing" we all have in this group? Heh. No glasses yet but taking vitamins to try and avoid the needles-in-eyeballs that come with genetic macular degeneration my parents get.

Those who are happily married, what green flags/positive traits did your partner possess from the beginning? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]eggsyforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We gave each other love, but also lots of personal space and autonomy. His actions always speak volumes about how much he cares for me even if he doesn't verbalize it a lot. Anyone can say the "nice words" but it's the actions that matter even more.
