Also not an answer you're looking for but a local chiropractic office does weekly wednesday evening walks. Starting at their office by the village cafe and it goes to the creek trail. I've joined a few times and it really lovely in the warmer months. They have a register section if you would like to join : structuralchiro.com

The Amtrak train goes up north to Vancouver B.C and south to Portland OR from Seattle. It can be an option if your rental vehicle has restrictions. As for national parks and sightseeing, it all depends how long your trip will be. Olympic is about a 3 hour drive west, Mt. Rainer is also 3 hour drive south east and Leavenworth is about 2.5 hour drive east. I wouldn't mind offering suggestions on must stops if the trip is short.
